very clever system! Congratulations, Boyz. That being said, two questions. 1) where are your air filters? an inline carbon filter would be nice. The second question relates to the clipping of the regulator to the weight belt. Generally, we want to be able to ditch the belt without dropping the regulator :) A clip on the back might be a little hard to reach in an emergency. Do you have anything on the in take pipe to prevent surface waves/water splashes from getting pulled into the compressor?

Hi, thanks for your comments. Please see the answers below: Ad1) AirBuddy uses an oil-less compressor, so it doesn’t contaminate the air like a SCUBA high-pressure compressor that is lubricated with oil and subsequently cleans the air. The air drawn from the water surface is some of the cleanest air you can find. Although not strictly needed, there are 4 stages of AirBuddy that provide filtration: 1) Water trap and compressor baffle (gravity filtration) 2) Float (gravity filtration) 3) Diver’s hose (centrifugal filtration) 4) Activated carbon felt filter inside the fitting at the end of the diver’s hose (impaction and interception filtration). Ad2) In SSBA (diving without BCD), you should only be weighted to neural buoyancy. Dropping weight-belt is a last resort. If needed, you can unclip the harness strap, undo the velcro ... or if concerned, don't use it. It just helps to hold the harness aligned to your body, especially if the harness is larger than it should. If you choose the harness size correctly, it should have a tight fit. Ad3) There is a water trap. Nevertheless, you should avoid diving in rough conditions and prevent any water reaching the flag top (or submerging it). We have a separate KZread video and FAQ on our website on this topic.
