As an owner of an E92 M3 with no navigation and hence no M button, this was fascinating to watch.

Great video! I think a simpleton like me who's too lazy to figure out buttons and electronics just needs to stick with a manual E46...

I always keep my transmission on s4 when I drive on canyons because of the aggressive shifts. I feel like s6 is overkill for the streets wayy to aggressive for me especially cause I have a gts tune.

Just set everything to the max...make sure DSC off for faster take off ! driving M3 is more fun with DSC off.

Even more convoluted is how to set the default settings of the car when it is powered on and not in "M mode". When I bought my car, I wanted to have throttle response on normal for both modes. Reason being that I have the manual and I didn't want the different sensitivity to throttle inputs between the two modes as it makes for inconsistent rev-matching. My preferred settings: Normal - EDC:Comfort, Steering:Comfort, Throttle:Normal, Traction:On M Mode - EDC:Normal, Steering:Sport, Throttle:Normal, Traction:MDM Steering doesn't really add any feel in any mode, but I have it turned up a little just to make the inputs feel a tad different.

The M Key menu is one step to the right of the M menu. The selection is much smaller for those settings.

@@TedwardDrives my M3 doesn’t have an M button but I see an M light on the dash - I have no clue how to turn on M mode in this specific M3 😭 (‘11 M3 pretty much base only has the cold weather package)

How do you turn your shift lights on when you aren't in m-mode?

Huh.. I didn't know that you could configure the m button on an e92 m3 like that. I don't really have to worry about that in my e46. It's got the sport button for throttle response and DSC on or off haha

Im planning buying one, but does not have the EDC. Is that a must have? Or is it just as fine?

non-edc is actually desirable in a lot of cases especially if you plan to go with a coil over system and rip it out anyway. Less to go wrong. I have EDC but it was not a "must have" when I bought.

Oh well laaaaa deeee daaa, look at you with your fancy pants LCI iDrive knob, buttons, and menus =) IIRC, wasn't MDM mode what they used to get the best 0-60 times? Essentially with it on you can just floor it.

hahaha nice... Yeah they must have had to have used MDM because its pretty hard to launch with everything off. You obviously cant control clutch engagement so you'd be trying to pedal the car off the line. MDM allows a bit of slip so it would get you out of the hole without a huge cloud of smoke, but also without cutting all the power

How do I set the Manuel DCT to start at 4/5 when I start the car. Previous owner has it set to 3/5. So annoying to put it on 4/5 everytime.

I do not have a solution to this. In the M Key menu it does not allow you to specify start up transmission settings. If you find one, let me know!

in D it starts in position 2 or 3. when i tap into manual it goes to 3 or 4. I'll drive it tomorrow and confirm for you

can confirm. D2 is default for auto. S4 is default for manual. Hope that helps!

If you are on anything other than Sport Plus you are not getting 414hp+ but less, it's not controlling just the response of the gas pedal. DSC off or MDM is for the track be sure you have new tires or it's a shitshow really. Always use harshest EDC settings when M buttoning, ridiculous difference in cornering. You don't want normal steering under 30mph and sport above 30mph when you are "racing" either. Shift Lights should always be on anyways, not sure why you would disable.
