How To Set Up The Brother A150 Sewing Machine From Scratch

So I tried to read the manual that came with this machine and for a beginner sewist it made no sense to me. So I went back to Echidna Sewing and got the lovely Rhonda to give me a walk through from start to doing buttonholes and using that cool keypad it has.
The Basics Covered;
Setting up the Buttonhole
Tension Setting
Automation settings for sewing - OMG they are cool, you're going to save so much time, I'm saving so much time. I think I am really going to love sewing on a domestic this time.
We are curating a list of sewing hacks and going deep in all of our patterns, so that you can use the same base pattern to make other versions and we are collecting those versions too. It's going to be nuts but I write it here to make sure I do this great idea, I want it, so I can't be the only one.
The art of sewing is another element of freedom when you don't fit the mould of designers but you still want to be funky and let's face it, having basics that you made for you in your wardrobe means you can have more style with less pieces.
That's the goal.
To help you get started I have put together an awesome beginner bundle that will show you how to do Buttonholes, 2 x of basic pockets, a super simple Zip and how to cut fabric and sew straight every time. There is 7 patterns in this bundle and by the end of it you will be ALOT more fearless when it comes to sewing.
For Students each year we will be doing Lives and other online sewing adventures from May - September so you can get ready for #memademay for the following year and flex your creativity at any upcycle fashion events.
Why blend in when you can stand out. xx
Thank you and get started, you will save money and time and maybe even find a style that completes your wardrobe or makes you feel more you.

Impressed with this machine and live in Australia? I saw the guys at Echidna Sewing for mine, they offer ZipMoney and AfterPay with 6 months interest-FREE. Start with the right machine and you won't need to replace it for years = smart sewing. They ship Australia wide: bit.ly/2VwdSmr-youtube

    This is such a wonderful video! My 150 is arriving tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited! I've been battling with my trusty very old Brother innovis 15 that I lent to the school where I teach and it came back totally messed up! Stitch regulator gone, bobbins won't wind and feed dogs slip down in the middle of sewing! Tomorrow is going to be a lovely day! You are a great teacher! Thank you!

    Thank you so much for taking the time to do this lovely introduction video to the A150 sewing machine. It's highly appreciated and a lot better to understand than the manual 😃 Now I only need to figure out why my stitches don't look clean and the tension is hardly right. Maybe our old sewing machines are not that picky if it comes to the threads I'm using.. Any idea?

    You're welcome. You have to make sure the top tension is set right, that's the key piece of the puzzle on the stitch length. Also keep your bobbin clean, it makes a huge difference.

    Great advice, just out of curiosity with top loading machines they are more convenient, but can you access to retrieve needle if the needle drops down the feed dogs gap and into machine? Or is it an engineers job really? my older machine I had to take apart, ooops in future I will use paper under feed dogs. Also do you know if the Brother A16 or any above are ok for small quilting and cushions etc etc I’ve been looking at so many machines I’m totally, Confused.

    I have just received this machine. I have been playing around with it. I have noticed that when I am sewing decorative stitches or the alphabet and I’m not using my foot control I am not able to adjust the speed of the sewing. Is this right? The speed control slider works fine on the utility stitches without the foot pedal so I don’t think there’s a malfunction with it. I have looked in the manual and I can’t find anything mentioning it in there. Tia

There are a lot of domestic machines that shake a lot while sewing at high speed mainly because they're made of plastic and are very light in weight. what about this one? And, for sewing woolen, knitted, denim, tweed do I have to buy single needle or lock stitch industrial sewing machine. Actually, I'm new to sewing so that's why I don't know the difference. Any, specific model(that can be available in second hand easily) that you'd like to recommend. i'll buy this one for sure but as you said I need one-second hand industrial also. can old Juki industrial machines do the job?
