How to set up QBelt VPN Server and QuFirewall on QNAP NAS

Ғылым және технология

QVPN Service - Secure communication for peace of mind
QVPN Service enables secure virtual private network (VPN) connections between QNAP devices and user devices, providing data protection over the Internet.
👉 Protect your network traffic from interception
A virtual private network (VPN) enables secure access to network resources and services across public networks. The QVPN Service integrates both VPN server and client capabilities - providing the ability to create a VPN client that connects to a remote server or third-party provider to access contents or services. It also allows using QNAP devices as VPN servers with WireGuard®, PPTP, OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec, and QNAP's proprietary QBelt VPN protocols.
👉 Superior security with QBelt
QNAP’s proprietary QBelt was designed around security and lowers the chance of the connection being detected as a VPN - further reducing the possibility of network traffic interception.

Why did you add another region rule when one is already created when you setup the Firewall region?

Hi, all of my devices already use a VPN to connect to the internet when connected through 4G/5G. Do I need to disable that VPN before connecting to the NAS through QVPN?

How do you get the preshared key for Qbelt? Wish these videos wouldnt gloss over info needed to get to the next step or at least provide a link on how to do that part. Can someone advise please?

The preshared key is user created. If you're taking about the Preshared Key field that appears at 4:19, You can put anything that meets the requirements in that field, just remember what it is. You'll need to input it again for your client machines.

Hi...good video...thanks... is this set up recommended for 4k streaming and Plex, or streaming 4k videos on the phone or table? Or do you have any other suggestions?. Thanks again and GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

To streaming 4k videos, there are 3 parts need to take care at least. 1. Internet Bandwidth (>= 100/100Mbps in my opinion) -> It's simple, just make sure Internet plan fulfill it. 2. VPN Performance (>=60/60Mbps in my opinion) -> Except QBelt, you may also try OpenVPN & WireGuard as QVPN Server and use the faster one. 3. Video Decode Performance (Plex Client better support Hardware Accelerated Video Decode) -> Since the video decode would performed by client, the hardware performance of client for video decode is matter. I had iPhone XR and iPhone 12. When I played 4k60 video on iPhone XR over QVPN Server, it just encounters lag continually, but when I play it on iPhone 12, most of the time, it can works fine.

@CHO-YIN LEE thanks for the replay... one more question I am using ipsec vpn, the reason why is because my router have that vpn and it is very good blocking threats, I am using it with the qnap tvs-h674-i5-32g do you think this one have the same performance of the other 2 you just mentioned or should I change it? The only thing is I don't know how is gonna work 2 different vpns... thanks awesome 👌 video. Also I have 1gb internet.

@@07Review There is no need to manage 2 vpns, the environment with 1 VPN is enough. You may try speedtest or iperf3 to evaluate your IPSec VPN performance first. If the outcome is good, then no change needed!
