Thank you so much for making this video!! When I was younger I used to go fishing every once in a while with my dad so I kind of know how to bait a hook and cast, with my dad just doing all the rest for me haha. I’m 17 now and my dad unfortunately passed away a few years ago and I haven’t been fishing since. However, a few days ago me and my mom decided that the two of us should go fishing!! So now we’re buying all the supplies from scratch (since dad’s equipment is unavailable) and I’m learning how to do everything on my own because my mom basically doesn’t know a thing about fishing. I’m currently setting up my first fishing rod (with your help!) and it’s kind of hard to get the hang of keeping the spool in place while still allowing it to unspool, but I was able to find a DIY system that works haha. Do you (or any of you that are reading this) have any tips for me, who is having to both learn everything myself and then turn around and teach everything I learned to my mom? It would be GREATLY appreciated!!! 💖 EDIT: I went fishing with my mom for the first time a couple of days ago! It took a little while to get the hang of casting without getting the line tangled (idk if that has something to do with the way I set it up or not lol) but by the end of the day I was able to cast a good distance without getting tangled!! We weren’t able to catch a thing, but we had to start pretty late so that’s understandable, and plus it’s all about the experience anyways so we still had fun. About an hour in I got suuuper close to catching one small fish, but he let go at the very last possible second haha. Looking back, I got so excited that something was actually biting that I probably forgot to snag it good enough lol. We’ll definitely be going again at some point and when we do, those fishies better be prepared!! 😝

I have gone fishing in the past at a river while its raining. But, I didn't catch anything. Only thing that really bites while its raining is catfish.
