    I like to install wire panels - draped with camo netting, as a backdrop behind all my stands. Enjoyed the video.

    I've been hunting and watching you for 2 years, and can honestly say using your tips over the last two seasons, has helped me an incredible amount. My first season about halfway through I found your channel and was able to tag my first deer ever after adjusting my tactics Last season I was able to start the season with your tactics. Put down 2 does and my first buck last year! Not a big one, but for my first, the basket 8 was enough to get my blood pumping Can't wait for this season and another chance at a bigger buck each year! Thanks Jeff for everything. Not just the info but the quality of your content and editing. Great work

    Man just had a new very nice buck show up. Weather here got cool over night and he came rolling through a very isolated spot I’m watching that has tons of sign just not much action right now. Cell camera hasn’t sent much but what it has when it’s a buck it’s a nice one. Getting access right will be very tough long route over exposed travel even if I’m careful. Gonna be very tough to hunt but if I’m successful it will be very worth it.

    After 50 years bowhunting I totally agree with all your points made. Be sure to practice setting down from your stand. Also if you use a small stabilizer bar, I tie a 3" loop in the end of my paracord haul line, pass it behind the grip but in front of cables and loop it over the stabilizer. The bow will hang upside down but securely as you lift it up. Be sure to have your line end 4 or 5 feet from the ground so your bow doesn't touch the ground or snow when it has been completely lowered. This method is fast with no metal to metal contact.

    Starting to think about hanging a stand on public land soon. I usually don't so people can't figure out where my spot is, but I have alot of issues with getting clear shots on the ground with a bow in the thick spots that I hunt. Thanks as always for the excellent information, Jeff.

    How does this change if you were doing public land? In theory, I can put up a (non-permanent) stand Sept 1. Would it make sense to put the stand up, but take the steps down when I am done each day?

    So what would you do different if anything with a ladder stand versus the hanger or would you choose a different tree

  • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    Hi Tony great question! For a ladder stand I would have chosen a different tree...or likely a different spot with a different tree. I do look for better cover for my ladder stands...cedar, multi trunked oaks, large pines, etc. You also have to be concerned with climbing in and out on the front of the tree with your back to potential deer vs on the back of the tree and hiding behind the tree while climbing in or out. I LOVE my ladder stands, but I let the tree determine whether I use a hang on set or ladder. In the case of this spot I would not have set a ladder up in this tree or location.

    In your video the clip where your in your ladder stand over the water hole your stand is facing directly at the water. Wouldn’t it make more sense to to have it at a 90* to the water ? Just seems you were at a lousy position to be drawing and shooting.

    that stand is pretty open isn't it? no other branches or close trees to break up your out line. can u get away with this because of location? i personally usually try to wedge in-between a group of trees or something like a hemlock for concealment. Am i just thinking about it too much? and should worry more about location instead of being hidden? because i also feel as hunters we try to hide so hard. but for what? the deer? our own satisfaction? from other hunters... although that can be dangerous come gun season.

    Is it possible/advisable to put a small plot (⅛ to ⅙ acre) plot back in timber behind house as a staging area for an afternoon/evening hunt when you have AG and garden in very close proximity to the house and out front?
