Alpaca manure is fine fresh, It's classed as a "cool" manure. My worms love it.

Great job showing how to setup a worm bin. I do like using worm chow, it definitely helps to fatten up the worms and if fortified with extra minerals it is pretty complete feeding option for healthy worms.

If you mix reds with Europeans will they "cross" or only stay pure breds? I've honestly never considered mixing them before. Would be nice to have some fishing worms though.

These different type of worms don’t breed with each other they only breed with their own species.

Nice Vid. I've been doing well with my new bins by using a thick plastic shopping bag to cover the top. I used to use newspaper or egg cartons. The worms seem very happy with it and it seems to keep the fruit flies 99% at bay. I am curious about whether burlap would be better. Might have to try that. Do you get free burlap from some sort of feed bags or something? have a good day!

When I run out of bubble wrap I use Walmart bags😂 The burlap is nice because they eat it but you have to put the plastic over it so it can stay moist. No buy the burlap in rolls, I do sell it 12 x 18 but I think I’m going to sell it in more quantities so people can cut it up. I’ll just have to charge shipping because honestly the shipping is what kills all worm farmers.

Is store bought Black Cow aged? Or should it age a while after you put it in a bin and let it age for a while before you put the worm in it ? If you need to let it age a while before you put in the worms, how long should you let the new bin age ? Thanks

I always pre-compost it for about a week before I put the worms in just to be on the safe side. I know a warm farmer in the deep south that uses it in all his warm beds, and he always pre-compost it for a week before adding the worms so I do the same and I’ve been doing that for years . Now there are other brands that I have tried, but I always pre-compost anyway .

If you mix red with the Earth worms in a container inside your house to earth worms will probably not survive. They need different kind of bedding, such as dirt instead of the shredded paper. Etc

I do like your videos, but this one was confusing. Looks like you're removing breeder worms, so aren't you setting up a breeder bin, leaving behind a grow out bin?

  • @TheGardenAndWormLady

You remove adult breeders from a giant tub like that to set them up for breeding in a smaller space. Having less worms in the smaller space with less padding encourage him to multiply faster
