Iron Man, let's see what the Quran exactly says. S41:9 -12 " Say, "Do you indeed disbelieve in He who created the earth in two days and attribute to Him equals? That is the Lord of the worlds." And He placed on the earth firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it and determined therein its [creatures'] sustenance in four days without distinction - for [the information] of those who ask. Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, "Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion." They said, "We have come willingly." And He completed them as seven heavens within two days and inspired in each heaven its command. And We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps ( بِمَصَٰبِيحَ) and as protection. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. " Here, it says the earth was created in 2 day, not 4 days as Claire had said. It also says that earth was created before the heavens. Cross checking with S2:29 “He it is Who created for you all that is in the earth. THEN turned He to the heaven, and fashioned it as seven heavens….." One could easily check the hadith that earth was created on Sunday and Monday while the heavens was created on Thursday and Friday In both verses the Quran and hadith said earth was created BEFORE the heavens which was scientifically wrong let alone the Carl Sagan's cosmic calendar. The universe was born 13.7 billion years (5.02) and the earth was born 9.1 billion years(5.11). Scientifically, this means that the Universe came before the Earth.

Have you not read Quran Verse 30 Surah Al-Anbiya Chapter 21? It's meaning is: How dare you deny? In the beginning earth and heavens were one mass then We forcibly tore them apart and We created every living thing from water, will you still not believe? If it is not bing bang then what else is mentioned here 'In the beginning earth and heavens were one mass then We forcibly tore them apart' Exact wording of big bang. Quran is book of creation. It can never be wrong.

Salaam, So you *hear and disobey* the command of your Lord? The messenger believes in what was sent down to him from his Lord. And the believers, all who believe in God, and His angels, and His Scriptures, and His messengers: " *We do not differentiate between ANY of His messengers* "; and they said: " *We hear and obey, forgive us O Lord* , and to you is our destiny." (2:285) Mohammed is a messenger, he is *like the other messengers* . The "best of best of best" is an invented notion put inside the hadith to cause *idolatry* . I am sure that the real Mohammed never said to worship/glorify/elevate him. Say: " *I am no new thing among the messengers* , *nor do I know what will be done with me or with you* . I follow but that which is revealed to me by inspiration; *I am but a Warner open and clear* ." (46:9)

You can't see the 7th heaven. All that we can see and will be able to see is within the 1st heaven. The first heaven is a like a drop in a ocean compared to the second and the second is only a drop in the ocean compared to the 3rd and it goes like that till you reach the 7th heaven above which is the throne of Allah.

I completely disagree. She completely left out the historical context, why? As an engineer you should have done a bit of reading about seven heavens and if you did you would find out that the idea was a very common cosmological view in MANY ancient cultures because of the seven objects that moved in the sky (Sun, Moon and five visible planets) - they were each thought to have a celestial sphere or "heaven". The Quran simply adopts this idea, as it was around at the time. If Uranus was visible, the cosmologies and the Quran would talk of 8 heavens :) To see that this is what the Quran is in fact talking about, some ancient people worshiped the motion of these objects and went around their shrines seven times in the counterclockwise direction (same direction as the objects move in the sky wrt stars). This was common in Yemen for example, and Muhammad adopted this pagan practice which is why Muslims go around the Kaaba seven times in counterclockwise direction (and the Kaaba has a Yemeni corner).

The Original People were monotheistic before some or several communities veered away from the original and became polytheistic. @@khalilbonjol8711 Your comment is confusing. First, if Muhammad was illiterate did Allah/Gabriel know this? If they did, why was he asked to read/recite in the cave? Second, there are over 7000 languages on Earth and more than half of these don't have a written form - don't these people have hundreds or thousands of years of culture, religions, poetry, stories, laws, etc that they pass from one to another orally? From what we know, Arabia had a very rich oral culture and the Arabs had amazing memories. Finally, Allah just repeats what he said in earlier periods - this contradicts a lot of evidence if you look at previous texts, as the Quran contradicts those text. What the Quran contains are exactly the ideas found at the time and place of it's origin. For example, it does not contain any canonical stories of Jesus from the NT however it contains many from the non-canonical texts of the heretical Christian groups that just happened to live in the region. It also contains incorrect scientific ideas that were popular - take Q21:30 for example which Muslims claim talks about the Big Bang. This was a common myth from Egypt (Ra separated them) to Iran (Enlil separated them) - Arabia just happens to be in the middle! If you read the Sumerian creation story you'll see it is found in 21:30: “Enlil, lord Nunamnir, the En, his utterance cannot be countered, separated Heaven from Earth, separated Earth from Heaven.” - Krebernik 1998, p. 321, n. 805. This myth and the verse are of course wrong because the Earth did not exist at the time of creation (not for another ~9 billion years) and you cannot separate the Earth from the havens as it is part of the heavens (sky/universe). The classical tafsirs scholars understood the verses exactly as the myth and argued that the Earth existed but it did not rain on it until it was separated. Then in 2:29 Allah gives the wrong order of formation, finishing the Earth before working on the heavens, which contradicts the Big Bang. Muslims today are forced to re-interpret the Quran and the science to make them agree.

the islamic view says that every thing you see above is within the first heaven .. so all you are talking about is the first heaven and the difference between the first and the second heavens is like a the difference between the ring and the desert .. you could be right and it was talking about what could the human eyes see but there is a problem in the difference between the heavens.. i believe that each heaven has its own dimension

We cant imagine anything above it, and what is also true is that allah swt expressrd and styles his ayah that multiple meanings can be drawn out of it: e.g surah al tariq ayah 1-3 in regard to pulsar stars and the general description of stars that come out at night. Allah azza wa jal chose the language so he can do exactly that, subhanallah

i remember i was 19 and i saw a book quran with sciencetific prove when i start reading it my head was spinned alot my mind was blow away i couldn't believe what i was reading i was jumping like a crazy person how could this holy Quran which i never really cared of bring so many shocking sciencetific evidenced and proved i began to fall in love with mohammad pbuh one thing still made me miserable how come my parent's never told me about this ?? according to my experience Quran is something that shocked u and will attract ur soul and mind I'm Muslim and i love these heros who r highly rank infront of Allah mohammad s a w hazrat essa (jesus christ) moses (musa AS) david (daweed AS) etc... i saluate to these Allah hu akbar

When people said "the seven heavens" in ancient times they were referring to the seven celestial bodies that humans can see with the naked eye before we had telescopes. That means the planets. And in those times people thought that those were heavens not planets.

Sadly, they leave out the historical context... The idea of seven heavens was a very common cosmological view in MANY ancient cultures because of the seven objects that moved in the sky (Sun, Moon and five visible planets) - they were each thought to have a celestial sphere or "heaven". The Quran simply adopts this idea, as it was around at the time, and anyone interested should spend 5min reading about it to see how many cultures used it. If Uranus was visible, the cosmologies and the Quran would talk of 8 heavens :) To see that this is what the Quran is in fact talking about, some ancient people worshiped the motion of these objects and went around their shrines seven times in the counterclockwise direction (same direction as the objects move in the sky wrt stars). This was common in Yemen for example, and Muhammad adopted this pagan practice which is why Muslims go around the Kaaba seven times in counterclockwise direction (and the Kaaba has a Yemeni corner).

Hello, I really enjoy listening to your contemplations and scientific interpretations of the Quranic signs. They help me relate my science to my religion; thank you. Also, I had been contemplating about the meaning of the closest heaven myself, and trying to align it with scientific observation to the narrations in the Quranic and their religious contextual relevance. In the Quran we hear that we walk in earth, rather than on it, which can mean walking on the atmosphere rather than the crust!! We also hear about the earthly, or closest heaven, just like we hear about a day that counts for a thousand days and another that counts for less or more depending upon the amount of time it takes you revolve back facing or not facing the center pivot, star or light source. Thus a day, like a heaven, is a coordinate with a space-time relevance; judgement day is a long day because things might not be moving so fast then in space. I believe the closest heaven is usually not the earth atmosphere, cause even though it seems adorned by meteorites sometimes, as they hit it and ignite, they are usually just showers we expect every year in certain places and times rather than a continuous safeguarded region. However, as we move further into space we see a bunch of planetoids creating a disc-like structure that looks like the first orbital around an atom. Gathered to define something, and possibly make it harder to move further on: I believe this is a better definition of a heaven. Also, we have meteors orbiting the sun, those could also be the meaning of a different way of defining a heaven thus explaining the different meanings of a heaven. Also, stopping those who shouldn't or couldn't move on, till they are ready or allowed. Thus explaining in practice that what seems as a contextual heaven in a specific narrations, is not necessarily the same in the other; the amazing and enriching correlation mind workout of the Quran. The 2-4 ratio is not just talking about the creation of the inhabited earth but also the solar system and more structures that happened simultaneously and is still happening to this day. The creation of the universe, the solar system and the earth biosphere have common and different elements; only the biosphere is said to blessed by sustaining ecosystems in 4 days after or with a 2 day creation; but the priming of earth as part of the solar system probably is mentioned in the 2-4 ratio of the creation of the solar system rather than the 4-2 ratio of the creation of the earth and its heaven: whether you think the atmosphere could come after or you think the nearest heaven is what is before the closest plantiod orbital in our solar system. I think these signs can seem simple only when you take them in a simple way, they also cater exclusively to very knowledgeable people who are interested in origins.

Jesyca, the Quran is just a bunch of myths, legends and fairy tales Muhammad heard during his wandering through desert from a caravan fire camp to another caravan fire camp. Later on he claimed that all that folklore was divine revelation triggering his own people from the Quraish tribe to have a good laugh.

It says the earth was spread like a carpet. Stop the convenient changing to make it fit. It is not the try at a duck egg, that is con from changing a word out of context and the earth does not look like a duck egg.

what quran verse say earth like a duck egg? i never hear that verse before , i know that quran say earth is round from az zumar v:5 , and earth is not exatly round because its spreading wider means earth shape more like a ball with the top and the bottom is getting pressed so the middle of it getting wider , similiar to ostrich egg which is mentioned in ch:79 v:30 with words dahaha which translated expanse or can be mean ostrich egg in arabic. so no duck egg for sure.

I am bit confused because Allah swt say that everything we see is in the first heaven, witch i think means everything man can see is in the first heaven, i think that we can't see the second and the others heaven.. I don't know i need to study more to can understand..although the quran have all the instruction to the man, we can't understand perfect without the help of the hadhis. The teaching and explanation of the prophet Muhammad saw. I understand what you are trying to pass, but we don't need stick with the science to show that the quran is true, the science don't know everything. Allah all might knows and he guide who he want. Brazilian DAWAH She is trying to tell you through by the way if science. You cannot see all the heavens with your naked eye. There is a huge telescope that has managed to do this now. Of course you don't need science to believe in the Quran , but for those who do not believe, sometimes you have to use science because their hearts and eyes are closed to faith

Sister, Allah created seven heaven and seven earth..the seven earth we occupy the highest of them.. that's why Allah Calls it in Arabic..(assama'a dunya) meaning the highest of the world or earth or universe... meaning out of the seven earth we live in the highest and nearest to the seven heaven above us..

Brazilian DAWAH....... Why this video is confusing 6 Era or eon temporal stages with 7 spatial stages in Quran. Quran clearly mentions that 7 heaven and earth are parallel layers or multiverses. Nothing to do with Big bang inflationary eras. Atheist version 7 eras of big bang conflict with Quran 6 stages or eras of inflation. The reason is very simple, the last three epoch of big bang eras can actually be condensed into two eras due to redundancy ..... So total 6 main eras or temporal stages

Each heaven and earth make up 1 universe. Total 7 multiverses. We are at the lowest universe with 3 spatial dimensions and 1 temporal dimension from Einstein prospective. Second universe is higher dimensions maybe 6 or 11 dimensions......... Creator Allah Subhanatallah knows best. According to hadith first universe compare to second universe is like a ring in the Sahara desert.

Now what if the non-muslims come up with an 'updated' map and add two or three more stages of the universe's eras, adding up to nine or ten in total, as opposed to seven? I think muslims should be cautious in trying to interpret Quranic ayat based on current scientific understanding, as that may change and evolve. I used to think of the seven heavens in a way similar to what is shown in this video, but I abandoned that in favor of another interpretation that I think makes more sense. This theory proposed in the video ignores certain facts that stop making sense once you include them in the theory. For example, the prophet(saw) went to Jerusalem and traveled through the heavens from there, and in the relevant hadith it says that in the higher heavens he(saw) saw the Euphrate and Nile rivers. So now, you have this strange problem that you have to deal with; if the higher heavens are to be found in distant parts of the universe, then what are these rivers doing there? You're going to dismiss such narrations? There are many other examples that pose problems such as this. For example, the angels occupy the higher heavens. The angel of death for instance is said to reside in the third heaven. So is that angel on Jupiter, or in another galaxy? Angels are all around us, but at the same time, they're in the higher heavens. This may sound contradictory at first, but there is in fact a way to explain that, although I won't go into that now. Anyway, this is why I didn't cling to this one interpretation that is proposed in the video, because it doesn't incorporate all that is said about the heavens, and it relies heavily on what the non-islamic scientists think to know in this current moment in time, while their understandings of the world are subject to change, and should they change, people clinging to such Quranic interpretations either have to reject the 'new' science, or come up with ways to have it remain relevant, thus judging the Qur'an by what mortal men believe to be true, instead of the other way around. I'm not saying the interpretation in the video is false, but one has to be carefull in interpreting the revelation. Unless you can incorporate the entire religious tradition and its sayings into your theory, I'd be cautious in terms of presenting it as *the* interpretation of what the revelation is describing.

Interesting point worth considering, I feel however the essence of the video was to portray the creation of the universe as laid out in the Koran in a more scientific way rather than the kind of descriptions found in ancient mythologies. It's true that science changes its position as it develops and there's still so much it can't agree on, but as presentations go this one certainly makes you think. And that can only be a good thing.

What do you mean "acceptable"? I was pointing out the fact that in that narration, two rivers that are on earth were also there in the higher heavens. So if the higher heaven is located in physical space somewhere, and it's in some other galaxy, then what are these rivers doing there? They're both on earth, not in some distant part of the universe.
