When you've got two pieces of knitting on live stitches that need to be grafted together, turn to the kitchener stitch! On stockinette stitch, it creates a nice invisible join. Just remember the mantra: Front Needle: Knit Off, Purl On. Back Needle: Purl Off, Knit On.

Every time I go back to this video for a refresher. Your video explaining these steps are the BEST!
You’re videos literally save me from burning my projects. As a new knitter, I don’t have the technical skills. It took me two tries, but I DID IT! Thank you for your help!
BEST, BEST, BEST at demystifying the dreaded Kitchener stitch. It is no longer dreaded!! Thank you.
This is the clearest tutorial, written or on KZread, that I've found. Thanks Davina!!!
This is the best Kitchener video I have found - finally I understand what I’m doing!
So true about focusing on this stitch and not doing anything else. For some reason this stitch makes me dizzy but your tip about being aware of which is the front and back needles was very helpful to keep me on track. Thanks for your great video!
This has to be the clearest explanation of Kitchener stitch that I've come across. The instructions are very clear and concise.
Thank you for a great tutorial! It was very clear and easy to understand. I was able to perform surgery on my sock and reattach the pieces using this method.

Fab clear tutorial, most useful. Liking the mantra👍😊
you absolutely explained this stich so well. I first went on a website with pictures, but i learn better visually so i went on youtube to see if i could find any tutorials. the first video I found had me pulling out my hair, I couldn't get past the first 4 stitches without messing up. Then I found your video, and I finished my stitches before the video even ended, so Thank you
Thank you! It clicked as soon as you said front needle knit off, purl on and the back needle purl off, knit on. Got it right the first time! 😁
Thank you I do like the stitch, and like you mentioned concentration is very important for this one. Love the work.
Great tutorial! Yesterday tried at least 5 times with other videos but they were a disaster. With your explanation, I did it at the first try 🙂 Thanks so much.
Thank you for showing the way to do the kitchener stitch very helpful.Blessings
I love this stitch and you did a great job of explaining it! Thank you!
Thank you!! This is the best tutorial on this stitch! 👍🏻
Thank you a LOT for this tutorial. My native language is Russian and I knit like for years, and I’ve never really understood how to make it. Sometimes it was goof but mostly I couldn’t make it as it had to be. So today as I had to finish a lot of my projects where I needed this method I have decided to watch it in English, and I’m really happy I found you first! Your explanation is way too better than everything I saw before! Thank you so much 😊

Thank you , very much !
Thanks for this instruction. I'm going to do it!
I find that the kitchener stitch works, looks and feels better without the setup stitched. Might be just a preference
Thanks you
thank u, i love u 🥺💗💗💗💗💗💗
Excellent! :)
Thank you for your video. The camera angle was perfect to show exactly what you were doing and you repeated the instructions and demo at a good rate of speed.
hi! i have a question about one of the pieces of fabric. you said that you didn't cast off on either of the two pieces but you only mentioned what to do with the tail with one of them. do you just weave in the end for the other piece?
@aletrisvazquez2526
5 жыл бұрын
For the other piece you would have used a provisional cast on, and would weave in the tail after moving the work onto needles and removing the salvage yarn.
Hi I LIked your kitchener stich x johanna
On the reverse side of my sweater there is a strip of yarn showing. Does this mean I`ve either pulled the yarn too tight or left it too loose/ How can I fix it?
Can I do thar on a round pin knitting??
Do you use this for any knit pattern?...stockinette,...garter...etc...
Hi, how can I do this in ribbing?
How do you do this but with two cable knit panels?
I am very slow on the uptake, so I slowed the playback speed down to 0.5. It makes it much easier to follow for a slowcoach like me, and it made it much more do-able without making a mistake. But I have to admit, it sounds so funny... like she's had two reefers AND a bottle of beer! So I followed closely (success!) but it was a giggle...! I mean, How did she do that so well while tripping...?! LOL!!
At the end, I always end up with more stitches on my back needle than the front needle. I can't figure out why! Any tips?
@tanyablais2992
3 жыл бұрын
The only way that will happen is if you forget to take the stitch off.
my tail end is on the left side of my needle so i am confused on how to fix this. im making a bag strap in the round so they're mirroring each other
Can the cast on stitches at the beginning of a scarf beadded to a knitting needle to be made to look like live stitches
@sheepandstitch
8 жыл бұрын
+M Holloway Yes! I think you're referring to the provisional cast on. This cast on method makes the stitches "live" so that you can later on "undo" them and seam them with another piece of knitting.
Is there a way to do this with purls? The ends of my stockentte piece is "Ki, pi, x3" 🤔
Les ruego poner videos de unión invisible en punto elastico simple es decir; un punto al derecho y un punto al revés. Gracias
Does this work for ribbing?
if anyone knows of such a video - understandable video - about seaming to colors of live stitches together - help...please?!
Good tutorial, but the wrap of 8 times the width was about three times more yarn than needed. That’s a lot of excess yarn to pull through each time.
cool im from Kitchener
