This was the best explanation of a ribbed kitchener that I viewed. Thanks!

I have been challenged to figure out the Kitchener stitch for weeks now on my 2 by 2 ribbing bind off project. Your simple mantra “same off, opposite on” has opened the door for any future kitchener bind offs I may come across. Thank you so much for sharing this technique!

Wonderful! You're welcome!!
Super duidelijk deze uitleg en algemeen toepasbaar. Same off, opposite on en houdt de draad onder de breinaalden.
This is the most memorable method I have ever seen. The “Same, off; opposite on” makes me visualize a key in a lock. The “same” sets the loop free.
Wow, so well explained. Love it. Thanks

You're very welcome!
I looked at a number of videos for one that explained how to Kitchener stitch a KP ribbing in a way that made sense to me. The quality of video and the clarity of the instructions on this video far surpasses the other offerings. Thank you so much for explaining a simple method of joining any stitch pattern.

Thank you for this clear explanation of the Kitchener graft/ribbing. The mantra “same off, opposite on” did the trick for me.I’ll be saying it in my sleep. Thanks again for taking the time to post this tutorial.

Heather, thank you for your revolutionary insight in this! So far superior to “front”, “back”, “as if to purl”, and so on. I am about to tackle a 3 purl 1 knit rib in a horribly fuzzy yarn and you have saved my sanity. Eternally grateful and have bookmarked all your wonderful video tutorials. You are now my go-to knitting info source!

This is the simplest explanation I have seen yet on this and finally addresses a pattern without all knit or all purl stitches. I have been stopped and completely intimidated by this stitch until now! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much Heather. I have been down the rabbit hole a little bit today looking at grafting 2x2 rib and your video really helped in the understanding of what to do with the individual stitch. "opposite on" "same off" worked for me! 🙏🙏🙏

I'm grafting a pattern of 10 knit 2 purl 10 knit 2 purl etc. To make matters worse, the 10 knit parts are cables. I realized that I should be able to combine the two kitchener stitch techniques for knit and purl respectively, but I'm very pleased to see it done in this video. Thank you!

I thought the technique made sense. But, I did have some trouble and confusion. I did 2 sample swatches of 2x2 ribbing and when I held the 2 needles together with wrong sides together I had a knit stitch presenting on the front needle but I also had 2 knit stitches presenting on the back needle as well. Heather's back needle had 2 purl stitches at the beginning. So, I do not know what I am doing wrong. However, as the instructions say the technique can be used with any stitches, I am hoping it will work out. My first attempt did not. I will continue to practice.

Make sure one swatch begins with 2 knit stitches and the second swatch ends with 2 knit stitches, so that the pattern will line up when placed WS together. (The swatches should be mirror images of each other when sitting side-by side.)
