For copy you do not need laptop

it says printer offline out of paper. It wont print, but the light is green and I have paper. Take it back?

Yes if the printer has no ink left even then it can scan.

I bought a few months ago and only used it to print 11 letters and notices. When I went to print a page of writing and it wouldn't print. There was a loud clacking noise from the machine while feeding paper through at a very fast rate until all the paper was fed thorough without any printing. I immediately got in touch with Canon UK explaining the problem and they replied quoting a reference number and a date of 3 days in which they would reply with a solution to the problem.This is now the 8th day and still no word from Canon.!! Canon is supposed to be a world wide reputable company but their after sales service is absolutely crap, they treat you with complete indifference. DON'T BUY CANON, YOU WILL GET THE SAME TREATMENT. LOOK AT ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS LISTED IN YOU TUBE WITH cANON PRINTERS. iT'S A PIECE OF JUNK FIT FOR THE REFUSE DUMP, THEY GOT YUR MONEY AFTER THAT THEY SON'T GIVE A DAMN. By an Epsom or HP printer, they don't give you that hasle and you will get help when you need it.
