It is good to see you and I hope that you are doing well 🫶🏼 if this pseudobulb makes it, and blooms for us, it is well worth seeing these unfortunate holes. It is cold and wet again, here, so this is concerning after this kind of a treatment. 🤞🏼 that the conditions do not make this more problematic than it needs to be!! Hope you are having a beautiful weekend 🫶🏼❤️🌸

I have seen you have your dealings with infections in the past and you know how upsetting it is to even see something trying to manifest itself. 🦒🦒💐 Hey doctor, surgery went well and the patient will recover completely. Wouldn't it be nice if we all lived closer and could make an appointment with you, being able to bring our orchids to you in person for diagnosis and treatment? 😅 Happy weekend to you 😘😘😘 Over here, winter is back, it's rainy, windy and cold. The worst is the wind, making it feel even cooler 😢

    FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 good morning, meine liebe Freundin!! At least, I hope that it is a beautiful Sunday morning for you 🫶🏼 I would love to have orchid clinics on the patio. With some coffee, a group of growers, just throwing information at each other, having an orchid round table... I would LOVE that! We had a lot of rain from Friday into Saturday and the temperatures have dropped to a low that I am not comfortable with. Some orchids come inside at night, but I can't bring them all in again. This is crazy! You are right about the wind 💆🏼‍♀️ Friday and Saturday I was up and around the patio like a yoyo, just to make sure that the crashing sounds were nothing to with what was going on on the patio! I cannot stand it and then I see the tornados in the US, which makes me 🤫 they had 75 tornados from TX up to Iowa.... in less than 24 hrs! The threat isn't over yet, so ... that weather front is doing a lot of damage. So, me and my complaining about the wind, I am just going to keep my true thoughts to myself. I remember storms like that in TX and I had real fear. At least today it is beautiful and sunny, no wind. Stan needs his blanket again just so that he won't burn 😅 I hope that today things have settled down for you, amiga mia!! Thank you so much for watching 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    HI Denise 😍💐 it was just about to go really well. Just about got away with things, and then boom, the temps changed, overcast cold days, and ... it would not have been wise to take the bracts off at such an early stage either... roll of the dice. She should be ok, and if we get a spike out of that growth, then 🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🙌🏼 🥳 thank you so much for watching, lovely lady 🫶🏼 I hope your Saturday was sunny and beautiful, because, usually, when we get rain during a season when it is not supposed to happen, then the north of Europe is basking in sunshine. 😊 Have a cozy and relaxing evening, Denise 🫶🏼 thank you so much for watching ❤️🌸

    Hi Nina. Thanks for this interesting video, it’s vital to know how to catch these infections the way you’ve shown before you lose most of the pseudobulb. I received an Oncidium that had holes everywhere and when I complained to the owner of the nursery he sent me a replacement which wasn’t much better. I spent the best part of 2 years cutting away rotten bulbs before it finally went in the bin and didn’t infect anything else, (and lost no sleep over it either).

  • @NinjaOrchids

    @NinjaOrchids

    3 ай бұрын

    Renate, hi 😍💐 that is a shame that your oncidium could not recover! I have a similar situation atm with some of my oncidiums, and it appears to be some kind of scale, which arrived with a gifted oncidium, that one is the worst, however, another one has the same symptoms now. I am, like you, trying to see if they will recover. One has 3 new growths, so, hopefully I can get it to bounce back. 🤞🏼 IF it goes by way of the bin, then, like you, I will not loose sleep over it either. As it is a gift, I am still trying... but I am cross with that one because it brought new problems to the patio. I think the pest came on a mount that was very pretty, but degrading. It did not appreciate being remounted either 🥲 we shall see! Thank you so much for watching, lovely lady! I truly appreciate your support and hope that your weekend was beautiful 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    @@NinjaOrchids thanks for the reply….I have recently decided that any orchid I own that goes downhill and I doubt whether it will recovery enough to give me blooms in the next 2 or 3 years I’m not wasting time and money on trying to save it. At my age I will just live on the memories of what I once owned and bloomed beautifully. I have plenty of photos to remind me of the good and won’t procrastinate over the “not so good”, if that makes sense.

    😍Andrea, hi 💐 now that we have had a few cold and wet days, the orchid is back inside, just to make sure that things get a chance to dry out. I don't see why it shouldn't work, it has in the past with other cases, but as the hobby goes, nothing is ever guaranteed. Better this, than to 'hope' it is going to dry out all by itself. Sounds like you had a wonderful day playing with your orchids 😃 so, I hope it made for a wonderful Saturday! Thank you so so much for watching, lovely lady! Have a cozy evening 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    Infections like that are treated with Dragon Blood, just two drops and problem solved. Big cuts, like taking off half a can are done with cinnamon (for large wooden canes I can use wound paste I use for Bonsai 😁

  • @NinjaOrchids

    @NinjaOrchids

    3 ай бұрын

    Hi Ynse 😍💐 if you can provide airflow and warmth, then yes, dragon's blood will do the trick, for sure! However, my conditions changed drastically, to cold and wet again, so I opted for the quick dry method, no liquid etc. The orchid has to be inside again because... end of April in S'ern Spain and it is cold, rainy and just uncomfortable. I am concerned for other orchids that are outside. I can't bring them in again though. Meh!! I hope the conditions do not act as a deterrent to fixing the infection 🤞🏼 thank you for adding the Dragon's Blood option, there is a time and a place for it, conditions permitting, and I felt it would not be the right option, in this case. And thank you, also, for watching! Appreciate you 🫶🏼 hope you are already having a great weekend ❤️🌸

    This would have been a good time to get creative and have your daughter involved. Lay out a tray of tools, you're the doctor, she's the nurse and do an operating room scenario. You know, ask the nurse for the scalpel, she hands you the knife, etc.

    The same thing happened to the bottom of a flower spike for a mini noID phal this year. I filled the small infection with cinnamon and the spike continued to grow and now it is blooming (very dark purple, almost black petals with a white/pink lip. The shape of the petals is also different). The infection was just below the last node so I was worried it was going to spread down into the orchid. I think it started from me spraying the top of the pot with water and it must have stayed on the developing spike for too long.
