Those were good suggestions, especially #5. If your image looks bad on your LCD screen or iPhone, it won't magically look better on film.

All excellent tips! And that’s coming from someone who is a bit process and results driven in my photography. And yes, knowing when to use digital is key!

Cheers, Alex! I have to admit that I myself have been slacking in using digital as my little helper (mostly because if I have digital with me, I'll just shoot digital haha), should pick that right up 😉

Thanks for watching, Matt! That would be my living room -which also doubles (triples?) as an office and a teaching space 😂 One day, I'd love to have a studio setup that I can just leave in place!

I'm totally in sync with you although I have my rolls developed and scanned by a professional lab rather than developing film. Personal choice, of course. My job, family and few other hobbies leave me with little time to do photography and prefer to stick with shooting photos as well as editing them, making the occasional zine, reading other photographers' zines and books, etc... rather than developing and scanning. Luckily I did find a lab that is not charging me tens of Euros per roll and would even let me choose the developer! But I would add something. These tips are not just money saving tips, but make sense too to get better results. Trying many films and cameras, lenses, etc. is fun (and I've done a lot of that) only to realize I would not master any particular one. I will probably keep most of my 10+ camera collection and I will definitely keep buying and shooting new films (Agfa Copex, anyone :) but I want to try and narrow down a few (films/cameras/lenses...) that I feel more comfortable shooting with and just stick with them for most of my shooting. Also, I'll keep that gear in good order (I am about to send a few cameras to AMS Camera Repairs for repairs and CLA). So yeah, I'm not committing to photo minimalism but ... common sense I guess.

So happy to hear that my blabbering actually made sense! I also think it's okay to not follow these tips 100% of the time, we can treat ourselves every once in a while 😉

I appreciate the first 60 seconds of this video and it is really nice to see there are good people everywhere, that is why I have faith in people all around the world. As a Georgian, I can only imagine how Russian people could blame themselves, but it is not on people 4 sure, because I have some little experience to be against the government, and it is very very hard to make a difference which allowed you to ake some changes, sometimes especially some countries it is almost impossible, That is why I can't blame people, as a part of the crowd have very limited resources, there are many factors why it is so hard to achieve real changes in politics that can change the course of politics, more importantly, good results. not only in Russia, but other giant republics also, countries which are responsible for this violent world we live in. they provoking weaker (smaller) countries inside out, and their motives are very corrupt. I do not want to be judgemental, Just needed to express my emotions. but first and foremost I am thankful for what the video is about. I apologize for my french.

I don't shoot 35mm film at all - to me, it has absolutely no advantage on digital (anymore). With medium format and especially large format that is totally different. So the daily photographic mass shooting which is usually the domain of 35mm cameras I only do digital right now - in the rare occasions I actually do that (mostly to test an old camera I have repaired). More than 90% of my photography is for a smaller part medium and the larger part large format. There is no digital option here (at least not for me and my financial possibilities), so no problem to decide if to go digital or not. However - remember the test-polaroids being used to check lighting and composition in the last century, before you got serious with the Hasselblad or Sinar? For that I use my digital camera now.

I can totally see the point in your format/medium choices! For quite a while, I also stayed away from 35mm in favor of digital but the steady flow of relatively affordable and yet excellent cameras and lenses just wouldn't let me 😅
