Omygah THANK YOU!!! I have tried to make Paleo mayo 3 times now and my Mom has tried once and all times we failed. I tried to "save" the mayo using other ppl's suggestions and it never worked. But guess what!?! With YOUR easy method, I just SAVED my 3rd failed attempt at mayo! I just made Paleo Mayo!!! Thank you again. I will be sharing your video in my FB Paleo group.

Me too, but I used 1 egg. Then I couldn't go to bed with a mess in my fridge so I went back for a third attempt, I did a third egg yolk, added the water and whisked it by hand this time. It took longer but I was so surprised that it actually worked. From now on I'm making mayonnaise by whisking by hand.
All hope was lost this evening after my mayo remained liquid. You saved my ingredients with this simple little set up! Thank you so much :) I am so happy now

Thanks! I was making several batches of mayo today. The first two came out great, the third one broke (no rhyme or reason, I've made mayo many times). Your fix worked perfectly, especially since I still had 2 egg yolks left to do something with (hence the reason I was making so much mayo in the first place). I especially loved that you were using an immersion blender, as that's what I use to make my mayo.

Hahaha. "It happens to everyone at least once". Up until yesterday I was cock enough to sy, "Except for me!" I learned how to make homemade mayonnaise when I was 13 and I will be 50 in a couple of months. Thought I would never have to look up a fix like this. You are right...I guess it does happen to everyone at least knew. Lol thanks for the hack how to fix it. ;p

Well I thought of this idea before searching and it didn't work, but I only added one more yolk and no water. Both my emersion blender and regular blender are over heated right now so in the refrigerator it goes. I'll try again tomorrow.

I was hopeful, but it did not work for me. I've been making my own mayonnaise for quite a while and I have never had it split. This breaks my heart :(

Does you new egg yolks have to be at room temperature?

from the old article it says you can use cold oil and cold eggs but found that when it's room temperature, it's much easier to work with. www.seattletimes.com/life/food-drink/homemade-mayonnaise-oil-egg-and-a-drop-of-magic/
Why not use just one egg yolk?

I did and it worked fine with 1 tbsp water :) Sorry I realise your comment was 7 months ago but this may help others!

or you could just use the half tablespoon of water and slowly pour and mix the broken mayo WITHOUT having to add more eggs when you don't want to.

I didn't panic, I just dumped it out, even though I knew there was a way to save it. I was just fed up and wanted to move on to the more fun part of my evening. It's totally my fault, but I'm only a little bummed out. Only a little.
This made it too eggy
I think if i had mayo looking like that, i think i would just buy some mayo. That looks like the sort of thing to put you in hospital or somthing.
