Running downhill can be the most fun part of running, but the truth is that most of us have a lot of room for improvement, and when we get it right, we can get a lot faster. This video will help you crush the downhills with some technical tips, strength-building movements, and a giant bug on Coach Dan's arm.

I love that free feeling of letting go of the breaks and just flowing downhill. It's so fun!
Great Video, that exercise is one of several that helped me over come IT Band . Haven’t had an issue again
2:56 you’re so brave. i would’ve ran off screaming
I'm such a weenie about downhills, and this was such an incredibly helpful video! I loved the "special guest star appearance" mid-video, too!
Thanks for the wisdom!
THANK YOU!
Thank you for the video
My biggest challenge with downhill running is fear of falling, especially on steep declines. I'm 6'3 so my center of gravity is higher than most of the other guys I typically run with, and I'm always a bit scared that if I push my speed too much on the downhills I'll lose my footing and trip. I also wear running shoes with pretty thick soles, which are great for my knees but less so for my foot coordination when running quickly downhill.
Badass. Thanks👍🏻
Cadence is key. I typically have a cadence around 170, but going down hill it increases to well above 200. Smaller steps means less impact per step. I also agree that the split squat is great for preparing the quads for running down hill, but personally prefer the ATG split squat because of the added effect on mobility.
Love it Dan buddy…I’m on a break with running now dealing with a fifth metatarsal injury. Super sad and losing motivation. Rest rest rest but still strength training.🥲
Want that to be my bread and butter: being that mountain goat of a runner!
Not only is this guy an awesome coach he is also a dead ringer for Gene Wilder (Very Cool)!
I love flying down the descents... but I really need to work on my sure footedness!
I've turned my brain off. Just working on the other steps now 😁👍🏻🏃♂️
It's good luck when a dragon fly lands on you like that! 😃
Tuck and roll baby no legs needed

I knew it was in Newfoundland as that's where I'm from. I just didn't know exactly where..lol. thanks for replying.
You mean knees over toes ;)
Did he mean hamstrings? Running down hills puts a lot of strain on my hammies

hamstrings too, but quads are the most common issue
