How To: Rock To Fakie

How To: Rock To Fakie aka Board Stall to Fakie, The Delaware Deckslap
This is a fun trick! I believe this is in the first group of tricks you'd want to learn when starting out skating transition. It's not too hard to get the movements down, but the mental part of coming back in switch can be quite the ordeal. With enough practice though it starts to feel more natural and isn't too bad! I had to film this tutorial switch because I wanted my front side towards the camera and I was very limited with my camera angles with the ramp placement. Just pretend I'm goofy for this video ;)
As always, thank you for watching and I will see you next time! :)

After an almost 10 year abstinence from skateboarding I started skating again and focused on miniramps this year. I bought a helmet and protectors. Few weeks ago I found the commitment to just do the rock to fakie without stepping down from the board when hitting the coping. I bailed so hard and fell onto the side of my head I almost puked (the board slipped behind me by going back down. I never hung up at the coping). But I maganed to do the rock to fakie a few times afterwards. Nevertheless it feels so awkward. I paused for two weeks because of quarantine. I never found the confidence after recovering from CoViD. So I decided learning to drop in switch. Again I bailed the shit out of it. I broke down what have to be done to finally accomplish this shit of a trick (at this point it drives me mad!). So I started skating switch (I always avoided skating switch because it feels so weird). The main thought in this is: if I learn to skate switch in general I will have a better controll when rolling backwards. When I feel comfortably riding switch, I totally will learn to drop in switch easily. And if I don't have any problem dropping in switch I will conquer the fucking rock to fakie... I know so many people who just learnt this trick by testing it out. Why the fuck is it so hard for me? :D Maybe I should go with smaller ramps but we don't have any nearby... Once I get it I will focus on improving my miniramp skills again...
You don’t know how I needed this, 3 months of torture trying to learn this.

bruh its not hard at all u just created and image of it being scary like i came on the ramp for first time after 3 months of skating and in like 2 hours i got it, just stay on your board and it will come by itself

Anyone else already know this trick but are still watching the video because the great content?
This is a switch rock 😆, can you please make a video to learn fivo stall ?
This is such a good channel! Skateboarding is so great and Mr VLSkate is so cool!
funny how im going to a skatepark for the first time tomorrow and he releases this
the voice...the music...the rationality, logic and precision....wow! :D
4:20 Although doing this is terrifying, it's how I learned both 'Rock to Fakie' and 'Switch Rock to Fakie'. It forces you to commit and you can't really fall back on bailing out of it. You learned the trick in 3 seconds whereas I wasted 3 months trying to learn it the "normal" way. Great vid lad!
I've needed this for like a year. Thank you
Thank youuuuu ur tutorials are always my favorite, right to the point

What are the odds that I wanted to learn this trick today and he posted this video ……. It’s a sign ^
One of my all time favourite tricks from one of my all time favourite KZreadrs :D
I just wanted to learn this today thank you
Fantastic teaching quality! 🙌
Super helpful I appreciate it! I’m trying to get my tail stall because apparently it’s easier than getting fakie to rock but I’m gonna take your tips and give it another shot!
dude tysm I am just starting to learn how to skate transition and you uploaded this :D
I love your videos and you really taught me how to actually do an ollie
That is one amazing mini ramp tho.
Thanks for the tips! I was trying to rock to fakie on a mini ramp today but kept losing my balance. Had to settle for getting backside slash grinds on it for the first time. Thanks and keep up the good instruction!
Just learned rock to fakie a couple weeks ago, might as well watch it to get better at it 😂
I honestly think you have the best skate channel.
Literally the video I needed

Cool
Even if I can do this pretty well i still love watching your tutorials
Messed up my knee attempting this today and now I cant skate for the next three weeks. If only I'd seen this a few hours earlier....
This was a cool look into different baby steps to learning this. I had this trick down in my teens and my mind blocks me from immediately feeling comfortable with it again but getting it more consitently! Can I ask what size is this mini?
Glad you're still uploading bro, been stuck on this for a while
hey thanks a lot! other videos say to lean back into the ramp when the front wheels touch the top deck. I notice you lean back in in some of the footage too. any comments/advice on this or just play around with it?
More beginner mini ramp tutorials pls! Eg. Bs disaster, rock and roll, axel stall
U are genius and by the way I'm doing this tomorrow B)
Just learned switch rock :>>
get this man to 1mil subs
Thx !
Bro ramp skating is so underrated. It's pretty hard
Get him to 1 million
Dude, you must have read my mind. I’ve been battling to get my first rock fakie for the last week or so and keep hitting the same speed bump.
*sniff* ahhh sweet content
Were you doing them switch so it looks better to the camera? XD EDIT: Just finished the vid and saw you mention it, cool vid as always!
God vídeo
3:35 What's going through your mind when filming this clip for the video? Are you like, "cool, now I have to purposely hang up and be good enough at acting to make it look like it's an authentic mistake and pretend to slam", or are you like, "I'm gonna have to eat shit on purpose, hopefully I don't stupidly get hurt."?
dude , once i get this down than to tail stall (drop in) after the rock to fakie will make me look pro haha
Hope your arm is doing good man ❤
Cool beans
Maybe it's time to go from practising 5-0 nose grabs to finally learning to rock fakie😤
Bro you have taught me how to ollie and now im here bro thank you soo much gl🙏
i’m just here to remind people to wear pads when practicing this trick as i broke my arm the other day practicing this trick!
I was looking at the thumbnail land I know you skate regular and I was like hm that’s a switch rock - I feel the same way though I would rather do a switch rock as it feels better coming back in than a rock to fakie
OK, I have a question out of all this, is it important to add the grip tape and if yes, then what kind of grip tape is the best to grip.
I can do the first part “rock” but I always bail when I roll back it edit: 5:31 that’s literally me every time I try it
yes
24th! Im suprised that you havent allready done a Video about this, or is this a remake :) ?
i don’t even skate transition but i was trying to get into it
i can get the wheels over the coping, i just can’t roll away. Tough times man😂😅
Been battling this in my mind for 2 weeks now. Got everything but the fakie roll in. I always lose balance and fall forward into the ramp.
My country doesn't even have a skate park so skaters just go to some hotels parking lot and we don't have ramp so we can do Ollies kickflip all those tricks
Rock to fakie was the first trick I learned on transition and I'm still to scared to drop in
I don’t have any small ramps to even try this
Bruh people say rock to fakie is hard my cousin told me to try it today took me 30 mins I'm so happy
Find something to go uphill without a coping n practice it there it gets muscle memory down its how i learned rnr
me who can rockie to fakie with eyes closed: interesting..

Can we have a tutorial on blunt to rock ?

I've only rock to fakied on the little bank ramp I made.
I learned axle stalls before rock fakies cuz at least with axle stalls u don’t fall that bad
I gave up skateboarding as a kid/teen when I couldn’t do this trick 😅 decided it wasn’t for me… day in day out just couldn’t do it
Fakie rock tutorial, same same but different.
perfect subscriber count
Seems I've been doing it wrong ...I kinda ram the wheels into the coping and ram in back down
Fuck this trick it’s terrifying, but I landed my first tday 😄

Why are you doing them switch?
Why are you doing it switch?
I find rock and rolls much easier because I such at riding fakie
Why were you doing it switch
hopefully i don't get a concussion this time
I remember my issue was i tilted to much forward
Lol we don’t have mini ramps here We went straight onto quarter pipe
