Most Common Beginner Skater Problems
Today, we're going over some of the problems that I get commented, dm'd, and emailed the most. It seems that there are some very common things that a lot of newer skaters have issues with and so I try to cover the most asked ones in this video.
For most of these problems I have full videos that go a little deeper into the issues so I would recommend watching my how to's for ollies, kickflips, heelflips, and 180s.
Issues covered in this video.
Why can't I ollie straight?
Why do my kickflips/heelflips fly away?
Why can't I level out my ollies?
Why can't I get a full 180?
Why do I push in one stance but do tricks in the other?'
As always, thank you for watching and I will see you next time! :)

1. Bend knees, pop the board 2. Slide front foot upwards to raise the nose 3. Lift your back foot ( very important this is how the board gets leveled out) 4. Land bolts If you get good at this you can easily Ollie as high as you can pop your nose

One thing for beginners learing the ollie something that really helped me get them straight was when u set up your feet and pop, when u slide up drive your heel up as well Dont only focus on your toes Make sure your heel pushes as well Maybe that helps

At some point, all skaters didn’t know what it was. Tony Hawk at one point didn’t know what an ollie was. Learn the vocabulary as best as you can, but don’t be ashamed to immediately not know what tricks are,

Wow your back! I started skating 3 months ago and your channel really helped me! Happy to see your still uploading! :) Edit: wow this video was really helpful, I can't relate to a few things here and this can hopefully help me with them!
Very helpful video thank you. I restarted skating after 20 years and now I see in my case the mental is most important. Now I really force myself to not visualize a bad landing like I used to do. When you visualize/expect a bad landing, you get scared and you just don't want to try and land at all, so you send your board flying or land with one foot of or something.
I started skating around 4 years ago and haven't thought much about what it was like when I first began learning ollies and 180s. This video gave me a sense of nostalgia because I remember experiencing all of these problems. It took me so long to figure out how to keep my ollies straight. It took me weeks to get my 180s to rotate fully. SO many hours spent in carparks practising ollies and fs180s. I look back on that time fondly because I really thought that I wasn't good enough to learn those tricks, but now I have dozens of tricks and I look forward to the future when I learn dozens more.
I love your channel man, it helped me grow so much as a skater 🥺⚡️❤️

How about a "10 unusual tricks for advanced skaters" video? There are so many vids for beginners! Glad to see a new video😁
your videos are awesome and watching them has helped me learn how to do better tricks.
I didn’t even know I needed this video until I watched it. Crooked ollies are my weakness. I’ll start working on those.
I turned frontside on ollies because of significant muscle imbalances PLUS the reasons you said . It took me a while to fix it.
I know all the corrections but i watch this to know how to explain to other beginners. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
Welcome back and I feel that I gained experience but I can't exit the 50-50 grind consistently and can't land a kickflip. I can say that it is normal to turn the shoulders while doing an ollie and try to look at the direction of where you are going while trying.
I just recently got a skate and I'm so excited, though I only skated 2 times yet 😅 It feels awesome when you can finally even simply push without falling from your board
Way more detail oriented video than Braille’s. Thank God someone finally gave a more in-depth explanation.

4:25 this is the first time anyone on youtube iv seen anyway actually tell u when your in the motion of doing an ollie. that u don't have to press your tail all the way to the floor to do an ollie because that isn't going to make u jump. istg no one has ever mentioned when to jump and the whole ''practice before ollie'' like snapping down your tail and brushing your foot up the board wasn't the only components to doing an ollie so thank you very much for specifying i shall subscribe now
