How To RIG LIVE SHRIMP Under A Popping Cork (For Redfish, Trout, & Snook)

Ойын-сауық

It's LIVE SHRIMP time!
You can't go wrong with a live shrimp (for big redfish, snook, tarpon, trout and mangrove snapper), but do you know the best way to rig it on a popping cork?
If you rig a shrimp the wrong way, you can kill it instantly (and make it much less effective), or make it more difficult for the shrimp to swim and act natural (which also makes it less effective).
So in this video, we've got Capt. Peter Deeks showing you the best way to rig live shrimp under a popping cork for more strikes.
You'll learn:
- Where to NOT put the hook when rigging shrimp
- The best corks to use for shrimp (that don't scare away fish)
- How to make your shrimp act natural and attract predator fish
- And much more
Have any questions about rigging live shrimp under a popping cork?
Let us know down in the comments!
And keep an eye out for our new online course, Underwater Bait Forensics, which shows exactly how different live baits act underwater, and how you can maximize the fish you catch.
You are going to be blown away when you see this live bait course!
It’ll be available on August 19th at www.saltstrong.com/products/

I have used this method with great success. Though I also hook them in the last digit on the tail. You can really throw it farther this way. And they live for a while also.

Great video esp. the forensics. One question, when you talk about leaving your bail open when in a current, are you saying let the shrimp drift back to you or with the current away from you? Thanks.

That's really all based on current and where you're fishing (which is what we teach in the course based on what it really looks like underwater)

Always use a bronze hook. I never use a leader (8-10 lb test). Hook em right underneath the horn and let them swim as natural as can be.

Hook through the last part of the tail. They’ll live a while that way and you won’t lose so many shrimp

I hate popping corks I know they work but they annoy me. I prefer freelining shrimp with a split shot.

For some reason I dont consider this technique appropiate for amazonian small mouth predators, they have strong and sharps teeth, if you set the bait no rounding the hook, it would be eaten in a matter of seconds without had a opportunity to tackle. It had happened to my with several species including piranhas.
