how to restore some life to a laptop computer battery. While you can do a few things to boost your battery's lifespan, computer batteries must be replaced every 2 to 3 years for optimal performance. Also keep in mind that if your laptop has a lithium battery, freezing it or repeatedly discharging it completely will damage the battery further.
Tips
If your battery isn't charging, check the AC adapter and the charging port. These tend to wear out more quickly than the battery itself.
Laptop batteries do eventually die. If these methods don't work, you'll need to purchase a new battery. Batteries can be purchased both online and in tech stores such as Best Buy.
Try not to let the battery completely drain during regular use. If you see the “low battery warning,” plug it in to increase long-term battery life.
Lithium battery packs can enter a "Sleep" mode if you leave them completely discharged for too long. If this happens, you can usually take your battery pack into a tech department in order to have a professional "wake up" the battery with a power supply.
If your laptop battery is dead and you aren't able to get a new one right away, plug your laptop in and use it like a desktop until you can replace the battery.

If you can charge your battery it means the battery is not dead. This video is not about "reviving dead batteries".

Making use of the kzread.infoUgkxcJ22tnHH9l1vjdIdEIG27iOG55P7LXI8 reconditioning plan, I just saved 2 auto batteries from being completely junked. The guides were very simple to follow. I wish I would have found this years ago! You may use the guide to recondition any battery type

Dell D600 battery (C1295) With a jumper between Ground and the SYS PRESENT pin I can measure voltage and discharge the battery using a R/C charger /discharger. However I can not charge at the out most pins. No current flow goes into the battery. If I put the battery back in the laptop it will charge it full again. Would you know if I need another jumper to allow the battery to accept charging?

*This battery reconditioning program exceeded my presumptions. It worked on any drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries, **batery.repair** and any camera battery. The steps are simple and the act itself is exciting to do. No matter what type of battery you`ve got, it is sure to function again!*

Be very careful freezing standard Alkaline batteries. They are not designed for it, nor is this video anything to do with standard batteries. Standard Alkalines, and even a lot of rechargable AA/AAA cells will often leak after freezing. For the price of standard cells, this is not worth the risk of destroying whatever equipment you use them in. Very old NiCad based drill batteries may work with this trick, but most of them are pretty dead by now. If you do this with a more modern Litium drill battery, you will kill it, even if it looks like it works the first couple of times.

Take it apart there’s no such thing as really built in as in can’t take it apart or separate it from laptop. Like apple phones or any other “built in batteries” simply look up your type of laptop or closest one. The more info you type like model number and etc the less videos will come up. Just type in the general brand and series. For battery that’s glued on just unhook the battery cable going into the board and jump it that way. If for any reason you can’t access the wire and glued on battery is only used on iPhones. But you can slowly blow dry the button where the battery is located because directly heating a battery will cause it to catch fire if your not careful. I’ve done phone and laptop builds and repairs for years and have yet seen one I couldn’t take the built in battery out. Built in just mean you have to take 300 screws out to acess it. Oh and don’t forget the secret screws hidden under stickers and rubber tabs

This actually does not work with Lithium Ion batteries at all. When this video was made, virtually all laptop batteries that had been around for for the past 4 or 5 years were Lithium Ion. If you had the type that could be frozen, you would have quite an old laptop. DO NOT DO THIS TO ANY MODERN LAPTOP BATTERY (meaning, don't do it to any battery made from about 2010 onwards).

My problem has become, even though my laptop says it has charge, it will all of a sudden shutdown as if I pulled the battery, and when I go to turn back on, power light flashes like "zero batterym then soon as I plug in the cord, the "Full charge light" is on and boots up fine, and shows I have 100%, so wtf is going on, PLEASE HELP...also, even though I will unplug it after full charge, and then hibernate, sometimes it will do the above also, not turn on with the "zero battery" light, then plug solves this, but defeats the prupose or a portable device...but soon as plugged in, the 100% lasts...untill random "battery pull" behavior occurs, WHY? :( (Toshiba satelite, windows 10)

Hi, engineers! Cpu speed must be at 50% on battery for many laptops, or else the capacity below 10% will malfunction. Calibration only starts at cpu speed 50%. If your battery is locked, ms project demo cracks the code for calibration. Just work with it during charging, and charge % difference will be shown. So if you use the software demo, and your batt starts charge at 60%, it will drop down to 14%. Now, the calibration can start by discharging normally. 3% hibernation is needed for best performance on Ac outlet as well. Button battery cell discharges even below, Asus needs 3 days, Acer needs 3 weeks to drain completely. That will exoand the batt life, and adds more power for your laptop to be much faster. When you remove the batt, you can freely work with the extended performance. Sometimes you need to put it in. Windows updates sec essentials, running on batt will calibrate your batt during download.

Where did you get this information from? This is not good information, nor is there any scientific evidence, or real world testing, to support this. A battery that mafunctions below a certain percentage is a faulty battery. All the CPU power would do is drain it faster. The "battery calibration" of letting the battery go flat and then recharge it is a well known battery meter calibration tool used only so Windows can keep better track of estimated battery life left. As for button cells, not sure what laptop you have, but I have never seen a button cell used for anything other than CMOS and RTC backup in a Laptop. What is this 3 Days / 3Weeks to drain? Your battery is drained when the laptop shuts off and does not restart. You don't want to try and wait the years it will take to drain the button cell that retains CMOS / RTC Information. To extend Lithium Ion battery life, you should really keep it charged around the 50% to 70% mark as this is where the chemistry is most stable. If you run plugged in all the time, limit it to 80% maximum charge and every so often take it off and "exercise" the battery by letting it discharge to about 20% below that level. Battery life is directly related to discharge cycles. A full cycle being 100 to 0 (theoretically). Plenty of information online as to the real ways to improve battery performance. None of this makes the laptop "faster" nor does it add more power to your laptop. Your laptop speed is irrelevant of the battery. Battery provides electricty for the laptop to run, same as plugging your desktop PC into the wall does. It has nothing to do with the speed/processing power of your device. For the record, my background is a Diploma of Engineering in Computing and Electronic systems and 25 years in the Information Technology field as a hardware engineer.

@@EsotericArctos This is based on my experience, so I cannot provide website or books. Laptop batteries are fully drained, when you see 0% charging after you plug in, and start windows. Button cells discharge below the limit, when the battery's leads no longer show power. If you connect a multimeter to the middle outlets to the laptop when unplugged, you will measure voltage from the button cells. When discharging, you need to run bios on battery every 5 times to refresh a battery, and after 40 min in bios the laptop starts to cool down better to gain more time on battery, less heat, and more power. You have to run google maps for each battery to position the device, and remove it from blacklist. Playing with project management on battery starts calibration, the cells become equally warm. Asus doesn't need project, instead you have to work with folders only. 10.8-11v laptops need 50% load, that is 1 ghz if the cpu is 2.1 ghz at 100%. Asus laptops can be at 100% 2.1 ghz, but when reaching to 10% battery power, it will automatically slow down to save battery health. Acer doesn't have this feature, it drains at full load, when the battery is low, therefore, manual setup is needed to 50% continuously. AMD radeon needs AMD chipset driver, ATI radeon driver slows down the the whole laptop. When yoy encounter a problem that the cpu meter hangs at 50%, you have to tap start menu items without clicking on them, then the meter drops to 0%. To remove the x from a bad battery, you have to charge up, start windows, and do nothing till it drains. X will be removed in 20 min steps. Only, if the battery is unlocked.

Who has a functional laptop with doesn't have a lithium battery because I've never seen one that doesn't and I fix computers so why would you even include this step in your video because you just introducing a lot of confusion I'm sure for probably 95% of the people who have laptops that was never necessary and definitely not helpful
