Thank you for this video! Just inherited 4 dolls from this collection from my childhood palls and 2 of them need to be restringed! Thank you very much! :D

I remember seeing those style figures occasionally when I was a small boy. They look to have been made very well; total respect for the design!

I always wondered how to restring those Megos of my youth. Thanks for doing this one!

Great that someone finally made a video for re-stinging a MEGO. There is actually one extra step that the MEGO Museum does not show when re-stinging a MEGO. Actually, the head does not need to come off. It can stay on. Maybe I'll have to do a video response to your video. The good thing is that there is no more guessing games or assumptions on how to do this.

most times when I restring I go for the out the neck hole to keep with the way the factory did it back in the day, also I find I have more control over the overall tightness of the figure. but I really like how Mike and Melinda showed the out the side of the hip way, it keeps from hurting neck plugs, which would be great for people who are not use to mego collecting.

Russ Gould Their video is great. I agree, I like that they showed that you do not need to tie it from the neck. I'll have to do my own video so you can see the one little trick I do that really helps wit the leg splitting never happening. I cut mine up at the shoulder. Sounds like I know now what my next video will be. I do not know if you are subscribed to my channel. But I will make the video so you can let me know what you think. MEGO LIVES!!!!!!!

APE #1: [as the Spaceballs and what is left of Mega Maid land on the Planet of the Apes] Dear me. What are these things coming out of her nose? DARK HELMET: [One of the apes takes his binoculars out and sees Colonel Sandurz, Dark Helmet, and President Skroob coming out of Mega Maid's nose] Hey, hey, hey. Watch my Helmet. APE #2: Spaceballs!?!? APE #1: Oh, shit. There goes the planet.

I would love to see a Thundarr the barbarian review if one hasn't been done already. Loved the restringing. It was nice to see an 'older' but known toy being done.

this was neat to watch,my older brother was the one into planet of the apes,as i would later get into SW. I did however have some of the super hero ones and i think the dukes of hazzard, and now i have a good video to show me how to re string my megos if needed.

Alot of us generation X'rs had parents who couldn't afford the 12 inch GI Joe's or the 12 inch Big Jim's and all those expensive playsets or accessories. So Mego toy action figures with their various characters were cheaper alternatives. Check out the cheap Mego accessories.

Quick tip- if you put rubber heads like that I'm boiling water for a couple minutes it temporarily softens the plastic making it far easier to put back on and them you just let it dry and the heads back to normal

Nice video! I know that you guys don't have a lot of videos on vintage MOTU, but I'm running into issues with restoring a Scareglow figure. The most pressing issue is the fact that he's turned orange for some reason. Do you know what might cause something like that to happen?

great restoration video! question : what was the brand of Action Adventure man, the one with the orange overall ,black boots and beard. It seems to have the same structure as this mego Cornelius all its parts joined wth a string?

lol I saw F.L.U.F.F.I. in the display case at the end. You gotta do a review on the Bionic Six toy line...one of my favorite during the 80's.

A small drop of super glue on the ends of the elastic string will keep them from fraying.

is it true the Mego Cornelius and Mego Galen were the exact same figure just in different packaging?

GREAT Video, thank you...I would just add that it is not necessary to remove the head from the figure....I just did 3 of them and left the head on each one.....So if you are afraid of damaging the head, leave it on....I did, so can you :)

+Geek Guy Alright thanks I'll check there. I also noticed when I came across Mego listings on eBay that it would specify 'Type 1' or 'Type 2'. I would assume this means Mego made changes later down the line.

Every Mego doll male, unless they were portly (like the Penguin), all had the same, sexy "cut" body. I lost many a mego doll, in the mid-'70's, due to heavy play and broken strings.
