I tried this today on my 2004 rav4 “shortie”. Worked 100%. Wish I can share the before and after pics. I live in Trim, Ireland. Bought all the stuff I needed at Halfords. Tnx a million!

I used 120, grit sandpaper on headlight and have quite a lot of scratches.. any fixes?

@@Arayman3772 lol, 120 is rough grit, you need to use around 250 for "deep" cleaning and roughin out the scratches, then work your way up 600-800-1500-2500-5000 to get rid of all scratches.

Thanks for the great videos. I did this to my headlights and used a 2K clear coat. Unfortunately I got bad orange peel. Would you suggest wet sanding and polishing them?

Wet sand and polish provided you have applied 3 good coats, otherwise you will sand through the lacquer and expose the plastic again.

Would this work on plastic tail lights? Bought an '87 Tercel, and it seems like the tail lights are smoked, a bit too dark and It's hard to see the blinkers' lights.

I would of thought they last longer. Did they use UV resistant clear coat or a good coat of it? Something a guy told me in my local detailing shop is to use a ceramic coating over the headlights. Would last several months to 1-2 years

This method is only for plastic. Glass does not fade or discolour because it is ...... glass.

You must sand back to the plastic again. Thorough prep is ESSENTIAL. If you can, remove the headlight from the vehicle to ensure thorough cleaning around the edges of the headlight. Final sanding grit is 1000. Using a finer grit risks the clear coat not sticking to the plastic. THOROUGHLY clean the head light with isopropyl alcohol using a lint free cloth to remove ALL traces of waxes and contaminants. Apply the first coat lightly, then 2 good coats 20 minutes apart. This is easier if you have the headlight removed because you can lay it flat to reduce the risk of runs. Wait 30 days before polishing/ sealing with wax, otherwise you prevent the solvents in the clear coat from "out gassing" trapping them under the wax. Good luck.
