Is popover a regional term? I've never heard it before. Great work!

I know I’ve heard it somewhere before-referring to shirts that had a wide enough neck to “pop over” your head. Maybe it is regional…

British English has "pullover" as a name for a woollen jumper (sweater in US English). Perhaps it's derived from that? As a Brit, I've not heard of a popover! It looks toasty warm.

So i did some googling and talked to a friend who pays attention to fashion, and she mentioned that JCrew had a top years ago called a popover. It was actually made of Liberty of London fabric, and had a placket so that it didn't button down the entire front of the shirt, so you basically had to "pop it over" your head. I must have seen that and remembered the phrase.

Love the idea but am struggling with how this is coming together as there doesn't seem to be any pattern. How do you know the pocket will feature where you want it to if you haven't cut out the front section first? Maybe this is okay for experienced sewer's but not for us amateurs...😢

I do use a pattern for this top--it's my own from a trace-off. And I also have a general idea of the dimensions I like to use for the pocket, but due to the geometries of the quilt patterns, that varies wildly. Basically, I try to center the top on a piece of the quilt pattern, and then when I cut the pocket shape, I try to match the patterning as best I can so the pocket blends in. If I can't do that, then I don't even try to be close (because then it's obvious). For the next video, I'll give a demonstration of how I do that--thanks for your comment (and the idea!)!
