In the horse world those "screw posts" are know as Chicago screws. Adding a tiny bit of Elmer's glue will help secure them. You can even find decorative screw in conchos to jazz up your leather bands.

I saw leather scraps on sale & thought I'd try a new hobby. After seeing this I think I'll try making my great grandson a leather cuff. He's in the 7th grade. I think it'll suit him. Thank you for the demo.

Can i use a nailfile instead of sandpaper?

Question, since this will be my first attempt, did you create the grooves in your scrap piece of wood for conditioning the ends of the leather piece? How long do you make the piece of belt?
