How to Replace Whirlpool/Kenmore Direct Drive Agitator Dogs

Here I show you how to replace the agitator dogs on a Whirlpool or Kenmore direct drive top loading washing machine. This applies to Legacy Maytags, as well as many other names such as Admiral and Inglis. Some are slightly different to work with, but the concept remains the same all around.
This is one of the easiest repairs on a machine like this, and one of the cheapest. DON'T get rid of your older machines, because if something has efficient slapped all over it, it's not efficient at washing or saving resources, it's efficient at breaking quickly and in horrible ways.
Your older, inefficient, top loading water wasting washing machines will always give you superior service, keep them and repair them at any cost! Maybe this fix wasn't major, but it should be a good 12 or 14 years before I ever see those agitator dogs again.

I have a newer Whirlpool washer with an impeller from 2013 and it is awful in my opinion. It is also really loud in the spin cycle. We used to have a direct drive but it got replaced a long time ago. The reason why that happened is my dad thought a high efficiency machine would clean better while using less water. It still works today surprisingly but it is really loud when it spins. When it spins it sounds like an airplane taking off due to a bad bearing. Its model number is WTW4900BW0. After around 6 years of use it started to get really loud when spinning. Bearing shouldn’t fail after 6 years.

Brilliant. Just what I needed to fix my washer! Er, I mean make my own videos on said subject. Thanks for the shoutout in the video and prescription. The other day, I had noticed my newer Whirlpool's agitator dogs and getting a slight bit noisy, so soon enough, they'll need replacement. There's getting to be a lot more slip than stick, but they're still holding on. Got a while to go yet. And of course, I have more in stock!

Well, you have 2 or 20 of those types of videos! Thank you sir, that'll be two dollars!! If that's the case I sense yet another repair video coming up. Oh well, that set got a good 11, 11 1/2 years on them, so that's definitely not bad! I assume you ordered another two packs after your last fix. Or at least another pack to start.

@@nl.515 Not fixing those for a while, they got time yet. After I fix it, then I'll buy 2 more sets because I'll be deficient.

Right right. If worst comes to worst out of nowhere, you have another machine 6 feet away!

Thank you thank you! Now comes the part where all my 250 gram bags become 500s, they just look better on the tower of powder! Currently christening some powdered Roma on a fresh full batch of towels! They really misspelt 20 ounces, horribly, since that was nowhere near an 8 ounce pouch!

I will make a video similar. I might get a free Kenmore 90 Series. I just love how you were bare foot so the agitator is at lower risk of getting damaged.

Good! Actually, I didn't even consider that wearing shoes would damage it, I'm always barefoot at home!

Nice job! 14 nearly 15 years old and thats all that needed doing. It should live for many years there is no good machines on the market other than the speed queen classic TC5. Curious if they will continue making it into next year.

Thank you! This machine doesn't get too many miles so to say on it to begin with, only doing 2-3 loads a week, so I doubt I'l be changing something out for a while! That's an interesting thought there, what *are* the 21' SQs gonna look like?
