Was kind of disappointed they edited out the water pump change during that one and then spliced things back together to make this video. It's kind of a no brainer to do both together when either needs replacing because of the hassle of getting everything out of the way. Also a good time to replace the serpentine and its pulleys. (Trust me, you don't want to have a serpentine tensioner die in the middle of nowhere at night. Finding one and then replacing it on the side of the road sucks.) Plus a failed water pump can leak into the timing cover, which isn't good for the belt or the pulleys.

Great video but I need advice. You take the engine mount off, then later the car is up in the air? Is there nothing supporting the engine on the Cambelt side when on the lift?

Best tool I've bought was a Devalt 3/8" 12v impact driver. If you plan on doing more than one repair; it's worth it. Why they don't make the right angle driver is a mystery, but Crapsman offers a good one and has worked well. Makes a repair a little less miserable. Brr Brr Brrrr...all done. Always go back with a ratchet to check tightness !

2003 Ford Focus zx3. I replaced my water pump. You do NOT need to remove the engine mount. Jack car up in front, place your jackstands. Remove the passenger front wheel and the backing material. Take off serpentine belt. Unbolt the water pump. It fits into the car like a 3-d puzzle. You have to put it into the hole and turn it exactly right as you feed it in, there is maybe a millimeter clearance and exactly one way it feeds in. I would have said impossible' but I actually did it successfully.

great video just wish this went into further detail regarding bleeding the coolant system. Not sure if theres a bleeder valve for this specific cars coolant system or what, and im getting mixed feedback on how to go about bleeding the system of air before turning the car on. Im doing the alternator, waterpump, tensioner pulley, and idler pulley so i just need to know how to bleed the coolant system before i can move onto changing the oil and oil filter and then taking it out on its maiden voyage lol

Wow I've seen a lot of videos to do this, but this is by far the best one I've seen. So clear and each step explained carefully. Thank you so much. I'll be watching this a few times before I tackle mine. Quick question, if under high pressure, the coolant is coming out at a rate from the water pump, would that just be the water pump or is it likely to be the housing for it as well? Thank you so mucjm

I added water and it seemed fine. I came here looking to see how hard it would be to repair but this work is taking place on the opposite side from the part I was thinking is the issue. Not sure how to proceed now.

I'm in the process of doing a water pump and know why it has all that gasket maker. That o- ring doesn't seal. It doesn't press against the housing. It constantly leaks and pours out the water. May just have to glob it up with some permatex. Very irritating problem.
