Great instructional. I just last week had to have the pump on my S Type done, couldn't get a knock off so i ended up buying genuine £103 !!! and mine is in front of the wheel arch. But it works just great now.

I have just changed my washer pump as you directed in this video, very straightforward and quick to do. However, have you ever changed the low level sensor ? I have found a replacement and would like to know if this is just as easy as the pump…? Thank you

When I changed the pump, the sensor is up approximately 100mm above the pump. If viewed that the water bottle is square, the sensor is at number side two and the pump at side one if that makes sense!! To me for the sensor to fit, it can’t have a grommet like the pump has, as the sensor has a float, so I can only imagine that maybe the sensor twists to remove. ( I don’t know this is how it is ) hence why I’m asking to be sure before I attempt it. By your answer, I’ll take it (respectfully) that you haven’t changed one. When I find the solution, I will let you know. Again Thank you for your help and time. Regards

I have just bought an X250 Sportbrake and was told about a potential fault involving a leaking pump and damaging some electrical components, that there is a mod to prevent such from happening, is it merely replacing the pump or is there something else involved?

I have the same car and both headlight and screen wash pump failed. The issue is that the failed pump allows moisture to track through the wire via capillary action (like a drinking straw) into the BCM (body control module) in the drivers footwell. It's about £1500 to fix. The new genuine Jag pumps are redesigned to prevent it happening, however a - you can't buy the pump without the bottle and b - if the pump already failed, the moisture can already be on it's way (can take a long time to get down to the BCM). Creating a break in the wire and adding a splice or scotchlock connector can block the path of moisture. There's a Jag service bulletin that details their checks on the BCM

Just on ebay. Just check the outlets are the same, as sportbrakes have 2 due to having a rear wiper
