    Just a note if someone has not already mentioned. Loosen the camshaft gear bolt 1st before removing timing belt that way you don't have to block the gear, and you will not risk the camshaft rotating. Same when tighting. Looked at your video for a refresher before doing the job again. Thanks Great job.

    I watched many d series timing belt videos including Eric the car guys before doing mine and in all of them they say the tension side of the belt should be on the exhaust manifold side, left side when looking at the cam gear dead on. You say it's the other way round. Who knows you may be right but I just thought I would mention it.

    So when you spin the crank to get tdc you are also spinning the pulley above to tdc?. To take off the crank bolt with the 17 you dont have to put anything in the pulley to choke it from spinning losing from tdc ? Im just a little confused because he used a 17 to get tdc and then the same bolt that turned to get tdc was the one that came off to acces the waterpump. Please elaborate

  • @lifted4evr

    @lifted4evr

    2 жыл бұрын

    Pretty sure he was able to go about it this way because he used an impact gun which broke that 17 loose and spun it back without cranking the pulley out of alignment to tdc. So if you're not using an impact gun like that you would have to use that Honda tool and a breaker bar to crank against eachother to break the 17 crank bolt loose while keeping the pulley in it's place.

    Hey! Not anyway in particular actually. I scour eBay a lot for random things. You'll always see parts there. There's a handful of Instagram guys I follow who will ship. My main advice is don't shop unless ready to buy and money is ready and available. Be involved in your local Honda scene so you get notified of parts for sale. And be prepared to spend on shipping. Most parts you won't find locally. Good luck!

    Hey dude, I just got an insurance check so I’m asking advice from the Honda guys I follow and trust. I have $10k cash and I get to buy a weekend-only 2nd car and I’m surrounded by nothing but curvy mountain backroads with no traffic, even before the lockdown. It might see a drag strip or a few laps at VIR 2-3 times a year. SO, the best $3500 EG or EK sedan I can find on the East Coast and then $6500 in mods immediately (B18C/LS VTEC/B20 VTEC or maybe even an H, fresh clutch and maybe an LSD so I don’t have to pull the engine any time soon, wheels, tires, mild suspension, pads and rotors) OR a $9000 ‘13 Civic Si sedan with 100k miles and then spend $1000 on maintenance. If I go with the ‘13 then mods would be done $200-400 per month, so not super quickly. What would you do? Really appreciate your input and of course, your content! Keep up the great videos. I watch every single one.

  • @GarageBuiltHondas

    @GarageBuiltHondas

    I'd personally skip the newer car. Get an older one cleaner one already swapped. That's what I'd shoot for. Then spend the rest of the money on any mods/maintenance and have a super solid car. For 10k, you could find a really nice built Honda already.

Was meant to be a secondary vehicle but is so much fun to drive as a 5 speed manual transmission that I want to make sure it gets the love it needs. Southern car so is in great condition and adult owned. Have interior out replacement of stereo for Bluetooth and factory speakers etc. Was getting water in trunk. Pretty sure I resolved. Rained all day and trunk is dry now. Changing transmission fluid tomorrow. Then Saturday shampooing interior. And working on new headliner for sunvisors My point is starting to burn out. Wish had purchased start of summer. No garage is my biggest problem.
