Very nicely done. I''ve done all kinds of work on a 79 Vette, including 4 engine swaps. Working on a FWD scares me because I have big hands and I know space is limited. Your video will be a huge help when I replace the timing belt on my son's Civic.

Great video. I'm not a mechanic in any sense of the word, but this was the best timing belt video I've seen. Planning to do this to my '98 Acura EL (Eh?), i.e. the Canadian version of a dressed up Civic. With help from my journeyman mechanic in-law of course. ATG recommends to do the following: If you CAN NOT remove the Crankshaft Pulley's Bolt out- DO NOT DO 1. Get the complete Timing Belt Kit 2. Camshaft Seals 3. Crankshaft Seals. Good luck doing the rear one 4. Water pump 5. Rollers 6. Tensioner with Spring 7. Oil Pump's O-Ring. Good luck doing this 8. Spark Plugs are optional 9. Spark Plug Coils are optional X. All belts Many videos will not show nor even shops will replace those needed seals. Many owners will NOT get this type of repairs because it is well over $3,500.00. And for sure not a single one on KZread will show you how to replace the Crankshaft Inner's Seal (back) or the Oil Pump's O-Ring without taking the engine apart from car. Anyone has questions /or need help, reply email address here

I've been having a problem with my civic running well for a few miles then it dies while I'm driving and won't start for 10-20 minutes once over an hour. A few ppl told me that it may be the crankshaft position sensor..

the crankshaft position sensor is beside the crank gear at the bottom. you have to remove the crank pulley, and lower timing belt cover to get access to it. does your engine turn when you start?

When you put the crankshaft pulley back on does it matter how it goes back on, because there's a white timing mark on the crankshaft pulley, so does it matter where that white timing mark is during installation of crankshaft pulley? Have you ever changed crankshaft oil seal? If you pull out the crankshaft sprocket to replace the oil seal, then when you put the crankshaft sprocket back in, how do you align the notch on the crankshaft sprocket to the pointer on the engine?

How do I know if my timing belt is bad? My car began making a noise when I start it, near the belts he took off in the video i can hear sort of a whirring noise, is it my timing belt or what could it be?

  • @zuhrimohdlotfy1576

I doubt it's the timing belt. If it snapped, then the engine valves are done. It could be a bad bearing on a pulley. Usually timing belts are replaced at defined intervals (i.e. every 105k miles) as preventative maintenance.

Zuhri Lotfy I checked it out today man. I looked at everything for like 2 hours straight then a light bulb popped on my head. It was the DipStick Tube........ I wanted to noose myself in several different ways. BUT THEN!!!! I seen the woodruff key on my magnet after putting everything back together and picking up. I felt nauseous. long day. I also snapped 3 belts because the alternator pully wasn't spinning. fuck this car.

The seal behind crank pully will start to leak if you aren't gentle with it when installing

In these old civics, the crank and cam seals are seriously overlooked. The Pcv valve also makes a HUGE difference. Its right above the oil filter at the end of a hose on the right side. Make sure to change that at least once

I don't understand why you have to mark the belt.. can't you just slip the new belt on after you have everything at top dead center?
