    The tensioner is easier to access and rotate from the passenger side. There's more open room over there to hold and lever the wrench, breaker bar, or serpentine tool. Good video though. It's always tricky to shoot videos like this in tight quarters.

    I just got a ridiculous quote from the dealership of $320+- to replace this belt. I'm going to do it myself. They also quoted me $900 to do the timing belt and $570 to do a transmission service. All preventive maintenance. Insane!

    My belt doesn’t fit, what could I be missing? Turning the bolt on the tension bolt doesn’t give it enough

    It seems to me you left out the part where you have to remove the fan in order to get the belt on correct me if I’m wrong…

    I am having an issue with keeping the slack from binding in between pulleys and being able to pull the bet up over the idler pulley, it’s coming up like a half inch shy of reaching and I’m starting to wonder if I got the wrong belt even tho oriellys never gives me the wrong parts. So my first thought is that I just don’t have it right enough... I’ll try again tmr.

    Turns out that many belts that come up as usable for a vehicle, are actually different lengths. Dayco 5060883 for example is 2.36 inches shorter than the Gates K060908 (2240mm vs 2300mm). They both claim to fit my 2002 Tundra. The Dayco doesn't.

    Thank you for posting this video. Once you have the belt on, what's the proper tension needed?

  • @HowtoAutomotive

    @HowtoAutomotive

    5 жыл бұрын

    Trent Gilliss there’s no adjustment. If it’s loose I recommend you replace the tensioner. You should be able to twist the belt almost 90° and no more

    This vid is like so many others in that it doesn't close out. I get how to losen, but what about tensioning after the belt has been replaced? Does simply tightening the nut adjust tension on new belt?

    When he turns the wrench counter-clockwise, it isn't actually loosening anything at all. Rotating it like that will actually cause that pulley to move down, which takes tension off of the belt so that it can be slipped off. You'll have to hold the wrench up while slipping the belt off of another pulley. After you slip the belt off of just one of the other things, then let the wrench back up, and the tension pulley will come back up as well. it's a spring-tension type pulley, so it has to be held down with the wrench while taking the belt off of something else. You'll do the same to put the new one on.

    Why not take off the air intake and use a normal 14mm socket and ratchet? Very few people own 2 ft long ratcheting flex head wrenches
