Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. I was able to change out my alternator on my 2006 Tundra, but with less steps. I loosened the belt from above the engine, then everything else was from under the engine. I removed the 1 bolt and 2 nuts from the alternator. Then removed the 2 power connectors. Then I removed the two bolts from the power steering pump and only loosened the top nut so it would move enough to get the alternator out by rocking the psp up and towards the passenger side.. Then did everything in reverse to complete the project. My truck stayed on the ground and I did not remove my tire. Less then 2 hours. Thanks again and I hope this helps.

Great video! I appreciate you showing us where and how you removed the bolts from the alternator! All the other videos just say take these bolts out and jump to them holding the alternator in their hands... not nearly as helpful as your video.

Just knocked this out, best video. I would add you mentioned psp bolt was 15mm, my 2 bolts and 1 nut were all 14mm. Went in easier than out for me, took about 2 hours total.

This video probably saved me $500 in labor costs. Aside from the things he suggests here, I also pulled the air breather box. That's only 3 screws, and it gives much better view/access from above. Thanks for taking the video!

Thank you for sharing the video. I replaced in 1 hr. I just removed the top air filter hose and the bottom black radiator fan’s cover. Made a lot of room for removing Alternator and steering pump’ nuts and bolts. After removing the Alternator from the bottom, turned the Alternator cables face to the ground and unplugged all connections.( don’t have to remove the tire).

Dude, Very good tutorial! I replaced my alternator and serpentine belt yesterday and because I watched this video first it went smoothly and I was relaxed. The only thing that confused me was the allen wrench with the tensioner. I didn't need the allen wrench at all and spent some time trying to figure out why it was needed. Finished completely in 3 hrs. Didn't need to pull a hose, just loosened the PS Pump and wiggled the alternator out carefully. Thank you for posting this video!!!! Great Job!

Good video . But I knew a guy that had a car fall on him. since then I always double support with some blocks so if something happens car lands on blocks before lands on you. Just those jack stands have a small base.

Yes, this looks scary on a slanted driveway, block the back wheels also so if it rolls back it won't flip the stands out.

I see your battery gauge 14v, mine 12v same as 12v battery no charge...(another youtube vid says 13-14v if alternator not dead) --PS: I BLEW STARTOR 30AMP FUSE, RUN 24V (2 12V BATTERY), broke seized engine free(ran no oil)

Just like you said, but you will have to remove the power steering pump. Or at least get the bolts out to the end of their threads in order for the alternator to get out from under it. The underside bolt for the power steering pump is the worst!

    I do not think Toyota uses 15mm, most likely a 14mm. 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm and 19mm are used in Toyota vehicles

Dangerous way of lifting the truck on a slanted surface. At least block the back wheels well!!! If it should happen to roll back, the stands will flip out.
