My friend please can you tell me i have the same St 5500 shimano levers and i am looking for some new hoods bike levers covers but i cant find the exact model.Can you recomandeted a model that fit neither to this levers pleasee

Hi again Arsen! Please take a moment to subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already! I appreciate the support in growing my channel! The model number on your shifters is 5500 and the part number is ST-5500. Now finding your hoods can be tricky because they are getting older now. You are gonna have to search ebay and setup notifications so you can get emails when new items are posted. You can use Ultegra 6500 hoods on your Shimano 105 shifters too by the way, you can also buy broken shifters off eBay that still have good used grips on them. I also always remove and clean them with very hot water and dish soap, can add life to your old hood if they aren’t ripped or torn already.

@@D2WrenchWorksDIY My friend thank you very much.After some researches i see that is imposiblle to find this model of hoods.I just find pair that cost 200 dollars a ridicoulous amount of money for just hoods.I appriciate your answer i think i can keep them for some time they are not such in bad condition but just want to replace them but when i understand that is very rare and difficut to find them i think i wait till i got a new bike.I just dont want to replace my old bike yet i have a Stevens 65 cm that is ridicilous rare and for a tall person 2 meter as me is difficult to find a bike like this.But thank yu for your advize and keep going with your videos you make nice job.Greetings from Albanian,Europe

Sorry I am just now seeing this comment, buyt keep an eye out for used 9 speed shifters like I mentioned hopefully you can find some with some good hoods! Defintely don't replace the bike though, even microshift makes a 9 speed pair of budget shifters that will work fine with you shimano drivetrain! Good luck friend!

Hello Rosa! The white ribbon is a data cable which connects to Shimano Flight deck cycling computers. I have fixed and sold tons of bikes and never once used it, in today's world people have a garmin or use their phone to record their activities. The ribbon is stored on the side of the shifter housing, the black plastic piece will have a little compartment with screws where you can access it and feed the ribbon through and store it in there. Or you can definitely just cut the ribbon out, which I what I am pretty sure I ended up doing.

The hood is removed by taking the very top of the grip, where it's highest point is and it is slightly circular shaped, grab underneath and peel it back from there. Once you have that section just peel the grip backwards, towards the clamp the shifters use to clamp onto the bars. You can work the grip off completely here, I always wash them with dish soap here, then you will install in reverse order.
