    My sons bike needed top n bottom rebuild. Mechanic said bearings overheated due to low oil. I doubt he knew what caused and now I know. Unfortunately it has same problem after a few rides, but gonna have idler gear replaced, hopefully repeat damage has not occurred so may need rebuild again. Husqvarna is costing me a fortune so far for a bike with low hours. Thanks for the video.

    Can the number on the oil pump idler gear be seen just by pulling the clutch cover and rotating the clutch basket? I have a 2019 FE350, and I've read that some late 19's have the newer gear. I'd like to inspect it without pulling the whole side cover.

    Only other place that uses a copper washer is for the bolt that locks the crank. It’s a spacer

    Very helpful video. I just heard about this problem and will be replacing the idler gear as soon as my parts arrive. I have the service manual for my bike but it is always helpful to see it actually done. I have a question, though. Why did you use red Loctite on the primary gear? The service manual for my 2019 KTM calls for Loctite 243 (medium strength blue).

    Mainly because all race teams use red for engine parts. Iv had blue not hold well before but that’s just my experience. But if the book calls for blue then use that

    While you have a lot of good info in this video, I do want to point some things out to save trouble for others. The TDC locking bolt is not meant to withstand significant torque ESPECIALLY with an impact gun. you can very easily shear the tip of this bolt off, you need to use a proper gear jammer, motion pro offers a cheap $15 one. Secondly, impact guns are fantastic and can make quick work of things, but they can very easily end up causing more damage very fast on anything and applying much more torque than any 1-3 foot breaker bar. I'm not sure where you get your feeling of impacts putting less torque on things, but the 1/2 drive Milwaukee fuel impact can apply 1200 ft/lbs of torque. a 2 foot bar with a 200lb man hanging on the end is only 400 ft/lbs. I do want to reiterate I like your video, it is fast and explains the job well besides those points, I just don't want to see anyone cause damage to their precious KTM/husky.

  • @Dutters.dirtbikes

    @Dutters.dirtbikes

    2 жыл бұрын

    Using a hand tools will apply more turning force to the bolt than a impact. Because impacts jolt and don’t use as much turning force

  • @Dutters.dirtbikes

    @Dutters.dirtbikes

    That’s why when you try to remove a crank bolt a engine will turn over. Where an impact will take the bolt right out.

    It's absolutely pathetic that KTM has known about this problem since 2016 and refuses to own it. There have been dozens and dozens of catastrophic failures and these owners have gotten to zero relief from KTM. I can remember when Austrian bikes were Rock solid but between this and the high rate of TPI failures I'm moving on
