New Ball Joint from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ic/1ASBJ00327
Car and truck suspensions combine a number of moving parts for safe and stable handling. The ball joint is the crucial moving component that ties those parts together. The ball-in-socket joint can wear out and loosen over time. Or, the rubber protective boot can tear, allowing contaminants to seize the joint. Bad ball joints are a common failure point on vehicle inspections because they lead to unsafe driving conditions. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to replace with the right know-how. This video shows you how to install new, quality TRQ ball joints on your 2003-09 Toyota 4Runner.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2003 Toyota 4Runner
2004 Toyota 4Runner
2005 Toyota 4Runner
2006 Toyota 4Runner
2007 Toyota 4Runner
2008 Toyota 4Runner
2009 Toyota 4Runner

Ordered a ball joint press kit and got all the way to the point I needed to use it but none of the 3 adapters included with my kit were the the right size, because when does working on your car at home ever go as planned…

Please note that the torque specs in this video are incorrect. The two outer bolts are supposed to be 166 foot pounds. The inner ball joint castle nut is supposed to be 106 foot pounds. The individual doing the repair to this vehicle mixed up the two numbers.

Is this done on a 4x4 and any difference between 2wd and 4wd?

Yes this is a 4x4 the rwd models have two bolts that the hold the lower ball joint to the spindle and they bolt up. Not down like in this video. I'm looking for a ball joint replacement video for rwd too. But I'll probably just end up making one for everyone else because I can't find one 😕

You’ve got the incorrect torque on the bolts, it’s 166 for the Outer bolts 103 for the ball joint nut Also, you shouldn’t use pliers removing the swaybar mount, there’s a 6 mm hex in the end of shaft to hold it with an allen key while you turn the 19 mm nut.

Toyota. Always go OEM for ball joints; tie rod ends and CV axles. Worth the extra money in terms of quality and longevity.
