How to 🔧 Replace HandTruck Cart Dolly Wheels with Pressed on Nut - Links to parts in description.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here's help finding the parts (by popular demand) (Associate link, I get a small cut if used, thanks for the support)
axle cap: amzn.to/3Y87PpN
push on nut: amzn.to/3h5AkDG
replacement wheels: amzn.to/3iMO2vC
Sometimes it's just a little tricky to replace a simple 10" wheel from a hand truck, dolly, generator, pressure washer, etc. There are several types of one-way or pressed on keepers, and maybe this will help you with your problem.
I used locking pliers, lubricant, a hammer and a 17mm socket to get this job done. Also, the axle was 5/8", I accidentally called it 5/16" Haha...

I would have been very confused if I hadn't watched this video first, wasn't expecting that ring (and was heading out to do this in an area with very little light). On my way out the door I did a quick KZread search, watched your video and instead of a lot of frustration, it was a very quick job and the socket to reattach quickly was a great suggestion. Great Video. I had no idea how to begin to get that thing off there. After spraying on the WD-40 I just started hammering with a metal hammer on the backside pushing the whole rim which was pushing the washer.. Bent the washer on the backside, but that's no big deal. The main washer on the outside that I wanted to save came out nice and flat and smooth . It did go rolling across the patio fortunately it didn't go far . I would recommend a little catch area for the washer. Thanks again. Great video

A Dremel tool is ideal for removing the rusted on nut. I use small pipe clamps to cinch them around the axle after tire/wheel replacement. Ya can also drill a hole through the axle, and use a cotter pin 📌, to hold the tire/wheel assembly on. Your friend, Jeff.

Working around in a circle with a claw hammer worked for me. Used thin fogging oil besides penetrating oil. HF wheels are only 2-ply with a 300lb. capacity. Going to try Hi-Run CT 1009 wheels. They are 4-ply with a 400lb capacity - original tire specs and tread. 5/8" hole and 2" bearing length. Walma** and HD have them by order.

Yeah, I just hit those nuts with a chisel. It's totally not worth trying to save pushnuts. New pushnuts are supercheap, but drilling a hole and using a cotter pin is way better for next time.

I want to know how to put a big caster wheel(s) on a dolly and a simple way.I perfer to have the wheels not to swivel ?

  • @BarryTsGarage

I’ve never done such a thing, but I first think of suggesting you look for locking casters, so you can control with a swivel or not. All the best to you on your project!
