I just wanna give the woman credit where credit is due. I thought this video was frickin amazing. Not only because she was a woman doing what she did with the skill level she did it, and I don't mean that to sound sexist if it does. I mean that very respectful. But because I don't know anybody who could have explained the job any better. Never works on one of these till now. Done several others. Had trouble getting the lower ball joints unseated. Thought I was doing something wrong. Watched this video to double check myself. Doing it right. Just wasn't hitting it hard enough. Lol. Didn't have to look for the torque spects or anything afterwards. Great job. I look forward to seeing more videos from her in the future. I am now a subscriber. Thanks for the help.

I love this mechanic and all of the 1A Auto videos. They’ve saved me thousands of dollars and hours. The only thing that makes me nervous is the fact that she routinely pushes the ratchet or whatever she’s turning 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 from her. The very first thing I learned in Machinist’s Mate A School in the Navy was, “𝙉𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 push a wrench!”

These A1 Auto videos are wonderful! I love her explanations (so clear!) and the videos do a great job of showing what's going on even when it's hard for me to see myself. But the best part is really this... When I watch the A1 Auto videos, I can make a good decision as to whether or not I want to attempt the repair myself. This is a great resource! Thank you A1 Auto and your great mechanic.

I just did this job on a Mazda 5. While she did a great job on explaining this she appears to have put the bearing in backwards. The darker ring on the bearing needs to face the sensor on the inside. This will cause a speed sensor fault and a ABS light. Her ability to explain the processes is excellent.

  • @geecrawdad

    @geecrawdad

    3 жыл бұрын

Rafael, I think the abs sensor will interact with the reluctor ring for proper abs signal. Yes, some bearings will have a magnetic ring, in which case, it must be installed in a certain direction where the abs sensor will pick it up.

Thanks for the great video. What were the symptoms of the bad bearing? My Mazda makes a whirring sound when turning the wheel slightly to the right while driving. It’s mostly noticeable at highway speed, but I can hear it at all speeds. When the wheel is straight or turned to the left, there’s no noise. All of the lug nuts are tight. I don’t hear any clicking noise like you would hear with a bad CV joint. Thanks

Are the retaining screws necessary? Could hitting the rotors to remove them damage them? I just had my front wheel bearings & hub replaced at Mazda dealership. After a few days my brake pedal will vibrate when braking at speeds above 40mph. I thought I needed to replaced front brakes, but they are good. The retaining screws, and bleeder cap were missing. I went back to the dealership, and told them the missing parts. They claimed that they had not messed with rotor or brakes to replace wheel bearing or hub 🤔. So how can I prove in fact that they did lose these parts?

For the rotor mounting screw, it is even easier if you use a JIS #3 cross point bit, which is the proper one to use as it matches the fastener. That is not actually a Phillips fastener, so a Phillips bit will not fit proper.

I'm not worried about damaging the old one getting it out without a press by beating on it a little bit, but is there a way to put in the new one without a press that won't damage the new part? you do not need to have the adapter pressed off. you can just us a common three jaw puller to get it off.

It amazes me that Mazda uses no seals for these types of press in bearings. Went nuts my first mazda job trying to figure out if they were needed or just left off if it had been done previously...lol

Some kits come with a seal, they fail before the bearing does anyway.

My fork got stuck and bent trying to get the ball joints loose from the bottom. Now I got some messed up boots on my joints and they are still there. How the heck do I get them out if they bent my fork.

You're not supposed to use a pickle fork on these types of joints.

Is it just me? Or does that tire have a pretty substantial slice in it near the scuffed part of the wheel?

I guess she's a sufficiently experienced mechanic . Very good jdb!! and I wonder When using a wedged tool to separate the ball joint, should the inclined plane be on the opposite site of the rubber boot? The inclined plane looks harmful for rubber materials. I'm just curious. BTW, the mechanic is so good.

Hi 1A Auto, I own a 2004 Mazda Mazda6 and it is having the symptom of a scrapping noise once per revolution at front driver side. After removing the wheel, scrapping noise still present. After resurfacing the rotor (no indication of warping by Orielly's Auto Parts), the scrapping noise is still present. I swapped driver side with front passenger side rotor to be sure it was not warped , symptom still present on driver side. I don't hear clicking noises from CV Axle on turns or accelerating. I am wondering if it could be a warped hub or wheel bearing issue. Please let me know what other checks I should perform.

+andrew rocha Hello. We can't diagnose vehicles like this, but you may want to check if there are any backing plates or shields rubbing on the brake rotor or on the CV axle. Thank you! 1AAuto.com

When you merge in the high speed to your left, is the noise softer or still the same?

So let's say a wheel stud gets stripped, would one need to replace the bearing as well or can just the plate with the studs be replaced?

Another comment the hammer faces if manufactured well will hardened faces, you are not supposed to hit hammer face to hammer face doing so invites shrapnel from the impact. Just a FYI.
