How to Replace CV axles: Honda Fit 2007-2008 w/ Manual Transmission

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today I'm installing a new axle and CV joint on the driver and passenger side of my 2007 Honda Fit Sport 5-speed. The original axles had 170,000 miles and were starting to make a clicking sound upon acceleration, which is a sign of a work out CV joint. Rather than disassemble and replace just the CV joint, it's much faster and easier just to replace the entire axle. My Honda Fit is pretty rusty, so hopefully your axle replacement is easier!

PS: My new Milwakee high torq gun really helped out on this job. I left my torq wrench in the basement and i slammed that axle nut and lug nuts back on with the Milwakkee. They are super tight and no damage.

I like the stye that you present these projects, methodical, stepwise, mentioning tools and size used, and your presentation is great. Wishing you continued success, really enjoy your videos. I prefer the Toyota truck vids personally, but I have come to watch everything you put out and enjoy them all. Thanks 1M

Do yourself a huge favor and Fluid Film the car before each winter. Get the underside, as well as inside of the body panels. Here's a couple how-to videos: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oK6L2pVmabOxhJs.html and kzread.info/dash/bejne/rIOCt5upmczFe6g.html

Definitely! I've been doing that to my truck, and will do it with this Fit too. That's why I took so long to find one rust free. Thanks

They were just some cheap replacements I found on ebay. So far so good! Just be sure when searching that they are for auto or manual, depending on your transmission.

Measure the length of the splines to see if they’re the same as the ones you removed. If so, then give it a good tap with big hammer and wood block.

The aftermarket axle was 1 inch shorter. It made no difference. Banging on it with a hammer and block of wood is useless. I pulled the axle back out a little and rotated it and shoved it back and and it popped right on in like gravy. @@6thGearGarage
