How to replace / calibrate your throttle position sensor TPS (Honda)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I needed to swap my tps so I figured I'd show you guys how to do it.
00:00 intro
00:09 showing the throttle position sensor
00:54 removing the throttle position sensor
01:02 cleaning the throttle position sensor
01:26 installing the new throttle position sensor
02:00 calibrating the throttle position sensor
03:43 outro
BTW I noticed that I didn't focus the intro and the outro but I didn't feel like redoing them as I already installed the throttle body

Just changed the TPS in my son’s Honda Element. Calibration instructions were perfect-thank you! (BTW, I stripped a bread wrapper to use instead of a paper clip; so thin it slides right into the connector.)

Great video! This helped me do this today with a minimum of cursing. My 2002 Stepwgn had a cover over the solenoid, and was a bit of a bear to remove - so many parts and sensors had to come off to access it. I used a bent safety pin to connect the multimeter. I just cleaned and recalibrated the solenoid and will see if it holds. I was getting the p1022 code for low idle speed. Also mine did not have a replaceable gasket for the throttle body, it was a rubber one. Thanks again!

After cleaning and assembly, I tried to start the engine but it won't. The starter motor works but the engine won't crank. And I noticed the engine check light is on when switch to acc and after cranking the engine then it turn off when I stopped. Is there any remedy for this than going to a professional mechanic whose service fee is expensive... I really appreciate for your help, thank you

The odd head small screws likely are JIS heads as used in many Japan cars (older Honda and Toyota).... they #2 size for a pair of 2 are about $8USD in eBay and will save messing up the heads of the 2 screws. A dab of Kroil on the screw/body of TPS will make the screws easier to remove after 5-10 minutes soaking... Theses screws are used on the IAC valve in my 2000 Corolla and they are NOT Star or Torx... they are JIS. Get the correct screw bits for the screws...
