Yes flux core is tricky. Next time. Turn down the heat. And don’t weld so far away, bring the trigger right up to the seam and “stitch it together”.

I'm about ready to do this. You can buy the inner arch. To me, o don't understand why he didn't repair that as well. Salt and dirt is going to rust that whole panel ... at least buy a plastic liner and rust convert, undercoat what's left of the arch.

One good trick if you're painting from the body line down is to spray on chip guard from the bottom up a few inches the whole length. It's textured, goes on super easy, covers mistakes very well and takes paint without drips...which doesn't really matter because it hides drips.

Great informative Video, you'll have much cleaner welds with a tig or mig welding setup, basically anything that uses a shielding gas...But sometimes we need to use what we have on hand/ what we know how to use in DIY jobs and a flux or even a stick welder can get the job done as you demonstrate in the video, a grinder and bondo will cover up all the imperfections...nice job

flux core can be used in a better manner, if using a flux core, prob best to brush off the dust after each tack weld, it can be done

No square corners on your patch panel.Round them off then weld.Makes for a way better job.And use a mig (gas not flux core)welder.

Where is the 2nd part of this? Seeing him do this for a company makes me feel better. I'm not a great welder myself but this was hilarious... if you arnt gonna weld the whole thing then you would be better off over laping the metal and using body panel epoxy then bondo. That's gonna pop and prolly be wavy as hell since you only wanna do spot welds in separate locations till it's full so you dont heat the metal and warp it. I really feel better about my welding now

Holy waaaavvvvyyyy panel there bud, supposed to randomly spot weld around panel switching from side to side till the whole seam is done....move around ALOT to keep heat down and not warp panel...nd flux core is WORST choice to do body panels with, get gas shielded for gods sake!

@@TRQ That would be awesome, and dont know if a premier but i did not found a single guide on what to do with the inner wheel arch if rotten, how is the inner fender joined to the outer fender,is it welded, glued, screwed or just folded on it. How to rebuild it to what size how to size it,make before or after the outer shell. It is a really important piece but i guess boring to show how to fix it and would make a long video which people wouldnt watch i guess.

Most people leave the inner panel alone. I intend to. It’s not visible, and leaving it open will prevent future rust, since salt will rinse and run off. Just be sure to spray rust reformer/undercoating in there before you weld the outer panel on.

This video sucks, the welding tip is protruding way to far out of the cup. He is holding the welder to far away from the metal and he's either not got the gas on or he's using Flux core which is not good for auto panels. His welding sucks, and hes not actually weldingnthe entire seem. Terrible video once the welding starts!
