I was so pleased when I found this as I have changed 9 drum paddles in the last 3 weeks and bought most of those from espares. Whilst this is the best instruction I can find, it is not for the same version of drum paddle as I have. I have removed and slid (locked) into place all 3 paddles and they have broken off again twice! A hot point technician did it the first time and it lasted one wash in place!

Cheers! Couldn't figure out how to get my paddles out as washer old and a bit smelly so wanted to clean them as well as my usual drawer and filter checks. This was straightforward to watch. Clean paddles :-)

@ilovemiele1 While the other video still holds true... For this washer that was the genuine replacement spare. Some spares are updated or re-coloured over time and it's not uncommon for a spare to look different to the original if bought years after the manufacture of the appliance. In this case this is what the new lifter looks like.

You are a life saver! Our Hotpoint was making a scarping noise. Was about to buy a new one when I saw this video and realised I might be able to see if something was lodged on the heater element by taking a paddle off. One bra strap removed! Thank you sooo much!

you said in your other video, that you have to replace the drum lifters with exactly the same one, so how come you started off with the green one, and replaced it with the white one with the pips?

I need to remove a paddle to get to on object stuck between the drum but cannot work out how to remove the paddle, mine are curved and i have tried every hole to feel for a tab or catch but cannot find anything. I have a Hotpoint AQ113DA 697E, when looking online they call it a Removable Washing Paddle (High End). Do you know to remove these ones? I called Hotpoint but they wouldnt tell me and the part suppliers would provide fitting assistance either, so am hoping you guys can help. Thanks

I have bought 6 drum lifters (genuine Hotpoint in the past 6 months and fitted them all as directed by this video. I have not overloaded our machine which is only 15 months old. I have tried twice to ring Hotpoint/Indesit but no-one answers the phone. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH THAT I WILL NEVER BUY A HOTPOINT WASHING MACHINE AGAIN.

Hi there, we've already bought the spare ones thanks, they don't look like this; the metal tab is in the middle of the drum, not at the front. That's why I'm stuck.

If you have the old paddle off it should be easy to push the locating pegs through the slots and slide the paddle over into position. If it does not stay when slid into position check the metal tab shown at 0:49 although your machines tab may be more or less close to the back than this one.

well i have a black hotpoint 9kg load washer,it was under 12 momths old when this happened, hotpoint call them paddles,an enginer eventually camre out,i was told they should never be telling people to fit them themselves, they are very shar with that metal piece sticking up,it riped my clothes to shreds, they have come off four times now in 3 months, now they are talking of replcement,at a delivery and installation cost to myself, again, its not right, also each three times i wanted an eginerr it took three weeks to get one out,so in over three months ive had a washer working 4 5 weeks in total, they never used to have these in them the drum was moulded with the shape of those paddles, never had clothes getting ripped, and talking of ripped thats why they do this now,at 38 pounds for 3 of those paddles its a nice money spinner for them, completely disgusted, ive had hotpoints for years and years and years, now im thinking maybe never again

If an appliance is under warranty we would always suggest you contact your supplier as you can invalidate your warranty by repairing yourself. Paddles can break for a number of reasons but it can be due to how you are using the machine. If you put a few heavy items in a large machine the clothes can 'float' and be hit by the paddles. If there is more in (but not overloaded) the washing will push to the bottom of the drum and roll over as it turns instead of being struck by the paddles. Never use with paddles missing as it can easily damage clothing.

you cant use it when the paddle falls of,the machine floods nd an error message came up,i tried it with a few old twels in out of desperation as i had 12 black bags full of washing, customer service is terrible, they are the one who kept sending them to me,tellig me to fit them myseslf as it was going to take almost a month to get the engineer out,i took one look and though no way am i touchig it,i called the back, the egineer ame out three weels later,he said they shoulldnt be telling people to fit them themseves anyway, but they do even if you gave extra cover or its still within its warranty, they said today as i made a complaint they are willig to write it off and supply a replacement new machine, but then said i have to pay for delivery and connection,i ony did that 14 months ago, thats how old it is,its not right i should have to pay anything when its their fault, drims didnt use to have thses on them, its about making money out of people,38 pounds for three pieces of unessary plastic, drums used to be moulde in the metal with the shape od paddles or whatever you want to call them, ive had hotpoints for over 30 years, never had this ever before, but then none of the others had the plastic money spinners in the drums

If you cant replace a simple paddle then you need to call someone who can. However it is possible to distort the lifter when fitting so not all the tabs engage when you fit them. so if there any gaps around the outside of the paddle after fitting, then it is going to fail relatively quickly. Use a mirror and torch to check after fitting. Also the metal retainers can become distorted if the machine has been used with heavy loads after the paddles has broken - you may also need to chack how level the metal cutouts are after removal. Again if you are unsure the unwritten answer to find someone who can..
