This website has helped me immeasurably. I did a $300 job for almost nothing and gave new life to my son's blinds in his "fixer-upper." Thanks SO much for the wonderful videos because this one in particular cleared up something I thought I could NEVER do. Now I have the courage to fix almost anything with these blinds! The video instructions are clear and concise, easy to follow and the links back to the website are excellent!

Hi, thanks for the really useful video. My cord will open and close my faux wood blinds for the most part, but they wont close fully. Instead some sort of gear in the blind starts clicking. Would I need a new tilt mechanism or cord lock? Thankyou

Ann Marie - Sometimes, the blinds get stuck in the raised position. Did you already install the blinds? If so, push up on the middle of the bottom rail while pulling the strings to the side to unlock the blinds. Sometimes, they are pulled up so tight, it needs the extra push. I can manually release the stuck pawl with a screwdriver, but the problem recurs and obviously I can't keep taking it down for manual release when I need to open/close multiple times a day. Question: can I try lubricant oil? Or is it time to replace the cord lock? Thanks 🙏

Sometimes, the cord lock can get jammed due to the weight of the shade. While pushing up on the middle of the bottom rail, unlock the strings. That extra push and support usually does the trick to unlock it.
