Hey Chase! I Love you Videos because youre always so friendly and happy. Great work Bro! I also fixing Electronics in Germany But mostly have problems to soldering These small Pins on hdmi ports for example. Im using ts100 Iron with Different Tips, kingbo 218 flux and German branded 60/38/2 solder. How much degrees you work with your Iron? Thank you and Love from Germany Markus

I like to use a chisel tip when working with HDMI legs, and not to add too much solder to the tip. 700-750 F Use a good 60/40 leaded solder. I use 6040 leaded solder by kester. I've heard good things about KingBo flux, but have never personally tried it myself. I really appreciate the kind words markus! Hope what I mentioned helps!

Hey Chase, I feel that adding the solder on the port like you did only helps if you go with an iron only desoldering or iron & air. If you only use air you must not wait after adding the solder as the only benefit will be the hotter port.

Hey Guido!! So I love flowing leaded solder to any port or joint because it greatly lowers the melting temp when you mix it with lead free (I'm sure you already know) 😊. But yeah, putting solder on top of the port probably didn't do much, maybe better heat transfer? Who knows haha.

@@chasefournier Oh I meant literally ON TOP of the port like you did at the end! If you use air RIGHT AFTER you've heated the port by adding solder on it, it will help, but if you let it cool down there's more thermal mass to heat up. I'm sure that with enough solder one could remove the entire port just with the soldering iron and a large tip though.

@@ItalianRetroGuy I've actually done this!! In some cases, if the stars align just right, you can get away with doing it with a large tip and lots of leaded solder. It's especially great if you have an area that is really tightly packed with components. What's funny is, I'm always trying different methods to see what works the best, and it seems like different methods work for different situations.
