How to replace 3.7L waterpump, thermostat and coolant temp sensor 3.7L - Chrysler Dodge Jeep

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this walkthru I show how to replace a waterpump, thermostat and a coolant temp sensor in a jeep grand cherokee. This 3.7L engine is found in many Chrysler Dodge Jeep vehicles such as the Nitro, Liberty, 300 and others. Goodies include a belt routing diagram and how to bleed the air from the coolant.

    @@LehewTech Probably a dumb question, but, just to be sure, when you bled the air out of the system am I correct in thinking that the engine was running while you were bleeding the coolant system? I seem to hear the engine running and the serpentine belt and pulleys moving and turning. Just not sure I’m seeing and hearing that and wanted to make sure one way or the other. But seems you have your engine running while bleeding the coolant. Right or wrong in what I think I see and hear? Great video by the way! New subscriber here! Thanks!

    I believe it's there so if air gets in the line it won't get stuck on the back side of the thermostat. If it did and there was a void the air would heat up way faster than antifreeze and mess something up.

  • @rodneywise6413
    @rodneywise64136 жыл бұрын

    You just mixed different types of coolants. Orange antifreeze contains organic acids that protect engine parts from corrosion. Silicate (green) type antifreeze does not mix with orange type antifreeze. Never mix the two colors in a cooling system. The organic acids in orange types will cause precipitation of silicates in the green type and corrosion protection is greatly reduced.

    2 questions: 1) do you recommend draining the coolant system? I just had it flushed and new coolant added 6 months ago. 2) do you recommend using the sealant that autozone recommends around the water pump bolt holes?

  • @LehewTech

    No sealant is needed, the o-ring does a great job. If you just had it flushed no need to flush it again

    Thanks man. Sometimes I decide to not drain the coolant from the radiator petcock because when you do that it might leak afterwards. The older the radiator looks, the less likely I am to crack that drain open.

    Michael Martin the info was good but the presentation was stupid. Why show a picture of the thermostat with an important clocking note, and then invert the colors and add stupid effects to it? Calling everything “boltz” and just the general presentation. Trying too hard to be cool and failing miserably. But thanks for at least showing the process.
