Awesome, I never thought the thermostat would be in the bottom hose. Usually, the housing is on the top.

Hey Mike, is it possibly easier to reach the thermostat from underneath? i recently got 2 pairs of jack stands and a nice jack so am tempted to test my luck from the bottom. it looks like a more direct route/less in the way. thoughts?

I got it removed and replaced, now it’s just reassemble the air intake, refill coolant, then should be good to go, right?

Is there a gasket needed for the housing where the thermostat connects to?

I can't remember but if I do I'm pretty sure it's seals with thermostat

I have a nitro and it keeps overheating and the weird thing about it is that as soon as I start it that while it's running I can't take the radiatorcap off because the antifreeze come out and the motor hasn't had time to warm up. Would you know if the thermostatcould be stuck

Your thermostat is stuck in the closed position

Hello I just replaced the thermostat on my daughters Nitro but after I replaced it I think I put it in backwards. Because there are no leaks but it is getting hot, and the water in the radiator is not hot after the temp gauge said it was almost topped out as HOT. I had to turn on the heater to cool it down and get it home. Can you tell me in what direction the spring on the thermostat goes, toward the motor or toward the radiator? Jake,

It could be a couple of things first thing I would try is to bleed system if I remember correctly on right side of Vehicle on top coolant hose there is a bleeder valve if not the case u can always pull Thermostat back out check that it is in proper way I dont recall there being a special way to put them in alot of time if there is a notch on Thermostat and hosing ware it will sit in it could also be a bad Thermostat that they sold u a good way to test it out get a pan out that u dont really care about get water boiling in pan place Thermostat in and u will be able to see it open and close if that's not the problem then it could be a temp sensor or a heater core problem witch was what was wrong with mine sorry for such long messages just want to help as much as I can thanks for message

Mike Blake thank you for your response. I checked and sure enough I had it backwards the spring part goes towards the engine. Thanks Jake!

Stuck open Thermostat is the most common problem and if u have replaced it please make sure u check that u put it in the same way u pulled it out

You might have air trapped in your heater core.

Mike - Was that the issue? My daughter's Nitro doesn't heat up either. Before I research heater core, thermostat seems the first culprit. Boy, what a pain to get to.

Can't say for sure but might be in the blend door or heater control knobs but sounds like something with blend door

I think the labor cost estimate on this was way under priced..I do this for a living and I wanted to see if it was just me maybe I'm just gettin old but stretching out down in there sucked and it's a messy job period unless you have alot of room the only thing I did different is just pop the air box off without taking it all apart there's no need and I left the hose hooked to it it pulled it down to get to the factory shitty clamp better hooked my housing up wich this 07 was 8mm. Not 10 put a normal clamp on facing the easiest direction...I'm just wondering why besides freinds or family why the labor is so cheap it sucked but I try to stay in the guide guidelines nut sometimes they don't allow for nature to take its course and there pricing is quote in a perfect world well I'm sorry Michigan weather is not perfect weather

I agree this was a close friend of mine I did the job for your right miss spoke as well it looked to be a 10 looking down lighting sucked but it was a 8mm and yes you could have left some of the stuff on but was trying to make it so most people understood how it work and what to do it they needed but good point thanks for commenting
