This is the only video that actually shows a repair rather than taping a piece of plastic on and calling it a ‘repair’. I managed to pry the entire mechanism open and thread in a M3 screw to the steel piece.
I’ve seen a lot of videos on this issue and this is the best!!! Clear instructions and good close-ups to show exactly what has to be done. Tk u!
nice DIY!
Very clear, good camera and mic technique, and well edited. A nice production that is leagues better than the rather amateur videos on the topic. Thank you!

Would love to, but sold the car. Got an Audi now. ;)
Hello and thank you very much for this very detailed (and full of humour) video 😂. First, sorry for my English which is not my mother tongue. I could not repair the hook of the belt, as you show, as it broke fully at the point where we have the button closing the hook when it goes back into its emplacement. So I ordered one as a spare part. However, my problem is that when I tried to remove the remaining part of the hook, the whole arm came to me 😢. It will be therefore easy to clip the new hook to it, but I am wondering how to put back the whole arm in its emplacement? I understand that there is a kind of toothed wheel moving the arm forth and back. What do you recommend? Is it better to present the arm in the open position (as if it is presenting the belt), and then wait for the toothed wheel to bring it back? Or push it back inside in the closed position? Another point is that this arm is not straight. It is slightly bent. Should it be really straight, as this part of the car is slightly curved here... So, sorry for all these questions, but I would like to avoid making additional mistakes 🙄. I hope you can give some advice. All the best, knarf from France 🇨🇵😉

Sorry, but I did this repair a few years ago, and I no longer own the car, so I can't really advise you.
Thanks for that, very useful for my passenger side. However, on the driver side, my seatbelt extension doesn't move at all. Any idea how to fix that?

I would say a fuse, but then both wouldn't work. It could be a dead motor, if you're getting nothing at all. Probe for 12v, if you have a supply but it still doesn't work, then it'll be the motor.

@@ProjectSupercar Thanks, I'll try that
At 7:06, u removed the long spring. Does it need to go back in? If not, what was the purpose of it?
@ProjectSupercar
3 жыл бұрын
No, you don't need to put it back it. The purpose of the spring was to pull on the latch, to give it tension. But the metal clip snapped, so the tension is lost. With the pin and epoxy now holding the latch permanently in place, the spring isn't required.
Just did this fix and ten top part still seems too weak because after it pushes the belt out, the belt slips halfway through the path. Any advice? Thanks

Usually this means your belt is binding up and takes more force to retract, this is usually caused by dirt build up on the belts, that cause drag. Try giving your belts a really good clean, then spray with silicone spray.
Hi what stops then from springing back open when you push that button as mine are not springing open when I do it?

Sorry, I'm not sure. I no longer own the car, so I can't check.
What’s the size of the pin or screw?
@ProjectSupercar

I believe it was 2mm thick.
I presume bacon is a necessary part of this repair

You might want to check your fuse.
Thanks. So the spring is not going back right ?

Correct.
ok but what if your extenders dont even activate. One day they just stopped
@ProjectSupercar

If they both stopped at the same time, check the fuse.

A guy called Sam bought the car of nick, then later sold the car to a bill glazier who unfortunately cut pretty much all the things you did off the chassis. The chassis is now in Kent
