How To Repair Air Hose

While there are a number of ways to repair air hoses, the use of ferrules and a ferrule crimper are by far the cleanest way. Today I am using a Lenox Tube Cutter and Milton Ferrule Crimper to repair a small air hose whip.

Ben thanks for sharing. You reminded me a friend who is roofer and the guy deploy for each house like 6 air lines. He have the same system. He showed me how to do it cleaner and safer. Honestly it's a really safe crimp, up there they don't stock in any place. 🙏🏻

Ferrel is definitely the way to go if you have the equipment but if a hose clamp is your only option you could come back over your hose clamp with electrical tape to keep it from catching on everything or cutting you.

The styles crimper is really beneficial if you are doing a lot of different hoses.

I've used 1/2 in pex crimp ring before. Still using the hose. I wonder if the pex crimper would crimp the Ferrell too tho

Hey Ben. Thanks for the review or overview maybe. I have ben looking at this for my shop and was wondering howe well they worked in the long run. I have no worries about investing in tools that work and work well. Hence = The investment. I use over sized fittings in my shop on the standard size hoses. was also debating if I should go to a target hose as well. What are your thoughts on that. My concern is volume of air to my tools. I have a 30 gallon 175 psi compressor now. Does what I need it to for the compressor side. Would love to get your feedback on this if possible. Oh. ps I am a fellow Texan getting the fabrication and building game in play. Thanks again Ben

yeah probably. Especially if you can find the ones with the double ears. "welding hose ear clamp". From my research its recommended as safe for welding hose repair vs. screw type hose clamps or twisted bailing wire. For air I'd do this all day instead of putting 2oo to 3oo into hose repair equipment unless you repair hoses for a living. On old torches with "barbed style fittings" what did they expect the user to do exactly?? use a pex style ear clamp and cut it off everytime you want to disconnect your torche? crimp on ferrule? I bet those old tops where using screw style hose clamps. Grandpa knew the true meanings of YOLO

A dab of oil on hose could make ferrel slip quiet easy, I suppose.

If hose clamp is a temporary solution is that safe? I need my air hose. Will it hold about 150 psi?

Interstate Pneumatics should have what you need. Just need to size it to the OD of your hose. amzn.to/3KmDiy4

I am poor I have a tube cutter but my question to you is I cant afford that is the poormans remedy to change the hose it right I would see if there is a hose valve that might have a barb and quick connect and attach it using a hose clamp does that sound right to you I mean I might try to fix a hose on a bike pump that while it may be a nice pump the connector may have been poor does the above sound like to correct remedy to use hose barb if there is one with a quick connect and use a clamp? does that sound right thoughts please thank you!
