I'm going to build a platform with a ramp and then put my engine hoist onto it for height to remove it from my boat on a trailer, about how high you think I would need. I'm thinking at least a 2 foot high platform. I'm using heavy duty wooden pallets, cinder blocks and plywood for the platform and ramp.

After removing and then reinstalling the engine, should you do an oil change since small particles might have become unlarged?

Dude thank you so much for this video I have a spunbearing and had to pull my engine monster 3.7L 4cyl Mercruiser 470 - I watched your video and pulled mine in 2 1/2 hours (my wiring was a lot different and I documented a lot of it) lol

@@Grant3758 Yes it was easy-my recommendation it label all your wires and put your bolt in bags and label them-wouldnt hurt to take videos as you unhook/unbolt things

Hi there, I plan on removing the engine from my Bayliner 175 year 2006. I haven’t started the process, but I was wondering if you could tell me if the back of the your MerCruiser engine was bolted to the cradle/frame which connects to the transom/alpha leg or - is the back of the engine bolted to the bottom? Thanks

Wanting to convert my boat from inboard to outboard honestly just going to cut what ever is in the way. All I want is to be able to drive to the middle of the lake and chill. Also my trailer is to small so need to free up some weight. All in all you help me not just throw the whole boat away and just use my canoe.

Why did you have to remove the exhaust manifold?

If you let the air out of the tires, that would make hoisting the engine over the side of the boat infinity simpler.

What about a mercruiser MPI V8? When I open my engine cover it is like looking at the engine on a 747. I don't know where one wire or hose begins and the other one ends.

    1. Those crankshaft bearings you put oil on the outside between the block and the bearings rotated.? 2. Oil gallery blocked ? 3. Oil pan leak? 4. Bad lifter? Hummm. The anticipation!! Lol.

I'm sure there is a story coming on why the engine is coming out of the boat again, but what happened? We are using your channel as a template for our 1993 VIP Valiant rebuild, except for that we are having the block professionally refurbished.
