I found (as mentioned below) placing a lens with fungus in full sunlight . . . a few hours later it was completely gone! But of course prevention is better than the cure, so if you live in a humid environment, add silica gel packs to your lens cases or camera bag.

just remember to make sure that the aperture is wide open - otherwise, the sun's rays may melt the aperture blades.

Silica gel is relatively effective to PREVENT fungus BUT you should use the type of silica gel that can be refreshed in an oven. As TREATMENT is new to me but I will give it a TRY. Thanks

Thanks! I live in a very humid climate so fungus in DSLRs are a real downer I keep a small silica gel balls packet in my camera bag... it doesn't matter if I leave it there forever, does it?

Hi! Do these silica gels expire?

Definitely, the silica gels itself would expire due to a long time of usage by the slightly changing its color...! Then replace it a new one...

Yep, but it depends on what silica packets you're using. Some of them can be recharged by drying out which is very convenient.

AND if the environment is humid (above 50%) refreshment of silica gel must be performed very often

I tried one but, will do 4 now. Hope it works. Is it better if it’s in a warmer place around 50-60?
