Thanks for this explanation. I've looked everywhere for how to remove the file association, and what I usually find is how to change it to another app. This was clearly explained, immediately doable, safe and more importantly, it works! (I did this on Win 10 btw.)

Thanks! This worked but my problem persisted anyway. Opening Citrix Receiver in Chrome would download an ICA file instead of opening it even though Chrome was set to OPEN that file type. It would download it and associated it with Adobe Acrobat (until I removed that with your video) but afterwards it would download the unknown ICA still. I fixed that by clearing Chrome's cache and logging the user back in to Citrix once more. Now the unassociated ICA file type would open the Citrix client in the browser again!

Yea but how do you delete the more options further down. I mistakenly clicked on a file to open pdf files, no problem later I clicked on the right app to open pdf but the first choice still shows up in open up with/more options. So far I have used the registry tutorials to no avail.It´s really not that important, but sure would like to know how to delete those (other options).Thanks for your tutorial.

sad there's no official way to set program to open as "Pick an app" (as app's properties says), but at least something i have opened 7z 00.2 file as 7z file manager and then it was blending with regular 7z files... after uninstalling 7z, windows still suggesting to open those .002 files as 7z file manager... but now it does not blend with regular 7z files. Thank you
