Never clicked on a video this fast before. I was expecting to see him without dreads. I kind of wish he did get rid of his dreads after seeing all that dirt come out of it. Seems pretty gross to me.

I have dreads and they aren't gross, you just have to wash them, and can you blame Louis? He travels a lot , he is a grown man and that dirt could be just plain sand, sand is grinded up rocks

Serena, no. ALL hair has the same anatomy. It's made of protein, with a cuticle and a cortex. No difference exact for texture. And not all black people have the same hair texture. You don't know what you're talking about. That was dirt, not mold. Stop believing everything you read. Anyone's dreads can be dirty if they neglect them.

Louis, I've been living vicariously through you and your mates and it's simply immense fun! I am a 60 yr old lady an must use a medical scooter to get around even inside my home, as I have severe spinal problems and torn ACL's in both knees. I had always wanted to travel and see exciting things and be able in interact with the local folk as you do, however for one reason or another life and children always super-ceded that though and opportunity. No worries though I've been blessed to be able to watch and greatly enjoy your videos :) I was wondering (the mind of an old fool can be a strange place, lol) why don't you leave your amazing dreads loose more often? I still have my long hair as I've had most all my life, it was usually, was my butt when younger but is mid back now. I know the weight of the hair, and just don't understand why you don't have more headaches from keeping it tied in the big knots that you put it into. It is truly amazing when you do let your dread be free! Ok, carry on dear man, just thoughts from an old housebound lady in Arizona USA. Namaste'

In a segment of one of your vlogs could you discuss why you decided to go with dreads? I've always seen dreads as a fairly convenient hairstyle for people traveling who do not want to bother with hair maintenance. But it could also just be style preference.

I have dreads and they are very convenient , you don't have to brush ur hair everyday, if u want it to look fancy, just do an updo or something, it's. Really effortless, Louis has her do touch ups to his dreads , and having a bald head is more matinence ( my dad is bald) you have to shave ur head constantly cuz the hair keeps growing back

Dreads aren't dirty, it's just that Louis travels a lot and all of that could be clean dirt, like sand and rocks, and u mentioned smelly? Are you there doings his hair? NO so you have no idea what his hair smells like, if it smelt, I'm sure the girl would have a mask on, dreads smell the same as regular hair

SuperLitherland Dreads are not smelly nor dirty especially when taken care of properly. You can look up a ton of black women who have their hair dreaded right here on youtube that have clean hair. Many of my family members have dreads and none of their hair smells.

can't believe you let your dreads get that bad....I soak mine in alcohol every few months to help strip dirt and oil. plain regular shampoo cheapest I can find for weekly washings never had this issue with dirt in my hair...

As a dreadhead myself I must say his dreads are pretty nice

What he is doing is not hurting you. Having dirt in your dreads is a universal thing... just because you have textured african hair does not mean you are naturally dirt repellent. It is not just because he is white that his dreads are dirty.

Silvia seams like a great person.

Dread locks are a protective style and lock and hold every thing. Your head doesn't shed when in dread locks. I recently taken my dread locks out that I've had for as long as I can remember. And all the hair that comes out is dead hair from years of wearing the style. I wouldn't recommended weaving dead hair in back in. Because it's just dead hair that just stayed In place since dread locks are a protective style. The same for the dirt. It's locked in just like the dead hair.

This is what I was thinking, too. I think he'd look great with a haircut (sans dreads) but keep his hair still longish so he can tie it up if he wants it out of his face. He has a handsome face and his build and his height could have made him a model when he was younger. But I get that he'd want to keep his dreads since he's had it for so long it's now become a part of him.

someone told me on tumblr that if a white person has dreads or cornrows its cultural appropriation. i haven't researched on this so i don't have a final or more informed opinion, but what i wanted to know is: if it's true and what Louis is doing is cultural appropriation, why isn't anyone talking about it and trying to point it out? what's your opinion on this?

Does your neck ever start to hurt from the weight of your hair? I know for me getting a cut, or even trim feels so much easier on my neck - and your hair is much longer

we lose about 12 strands of hair a day. it's completely natural and normal and so all these strands of hair have fell out and gathered in your dreads and so when you see them come out all at once it seems like ur losing loads of hair but really its not. plus ur hair is super long so it seems like more when in a hair ball
