How to remove clear sticky Adhesive from shower wall|

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I've waited about a year to try and remove this adhesive, after endless searching and unsuccessfully finding a solution I decided to take the job in my own hands.
I almost gave up because the project took so long but we must work hard for what we want In life!
I hope you find this video informative and it helps you solve your problem. let me know down in the comment section how this video helped

I got got mine done in 30 mins or less. I put my shower on hot and let the steam heat up and keep the adhesive wet which made it easy to peal off and used a icing spatula to get between the adhesive and the wall. Worked like a charm with barely any adhesive stuck on the pall to peel off.

You did a great job. I'm an apartment maintenance guy and have been for a long time. These past few years these things have been popping up far too often and you are absolutely correct that it takes hours of painful work. I've actually scraped the glaze off of the tile using a heat gun and putty knife. Maybe I'll try the butter knife next time.

Currently trying your method and it works! The only differences I’ve done are 1: I’m using a plastic putty knife instead of the butter knife. And 2: I’ve found that heating it up is actually what’s making the sticky stuff stick to the wall. So what I’m doing is heating up enough of one side that it allows me to pull the rest off. I’m only left with a little sticky instead of a lot. Hope this helps anyone as well!

Isopropyl alcohol. Use hard plastic adhesive remove. Create an opening the edges. Try peeling upwards and toward the hardest portion where the hooks are located. This creates leverage and can easily release the rest of the adhesive.

Goo gone and also I have learned with stickiness, if you use the other sticky parts to help remove the rest of it helps. Basically rolling the sticky parts and using that sticky part to pick up the other sticky parts. If that makes any sense at all. Your video helped a ton. Thanks. I didn’t know where to start. I just had to remove sticky backing off regular wall recently using the finger method. I still need to tackle the bathroom and now I know how because of your video. Thanks so much.

Great video, thanks so much for posting!! I just had to do this for 3 year old shower shelves and GIRL... let me tell it was a struggle at first. The heat gun did not work for me unfortunately, so....FOR ANYONE ELSE WHO THE HEAT GUN DOES NOT WORK FOR/ A GREAT ALTERNATIVE METHOD: 1. You'll need 2 people, a spray bottle, rubbing alcohol (70% or higher), and a putty knife (pair of pliers optional for grip) 2. Start at the corner of the adhesive piece. One person will hold the spray bottle full of rubbing alcohol and the other the putty knife. 3. Spray the corner with a bit of rubbing alcohol while SIMULTANEOUSLY wiggling the putty knife BEHIND the adhesive and the plastic. This piece is super important because if you start off ensuring that the putty knife is behind BOTH the plastic AND the adhesive, this method will work to remove it all it one piece and absolutely NO RESIDUE will be left behind AT ALL 4. Once you have a sizeable enough corner off that you can either pull with your fingertips or a pair of pliers (pliers for better grip cause the alcohol makes everything slippery) one person will continue to spray the alcohol while the other GENTLY AND SLOWLY pull the piece off. You may have to stop and get a different grip when you get to the part where the hook is cause it's a thicker plastic, but as long as you pull it little by little and constantly spray the alcohol, it will come off COMPLETELY CLEAN, no residue at all to deal with! --With this method we were able to remove 3 strips in under 10 minutes with no residue left behind! It took over two hours for the first gun trying the heat gun method and goo gone and it did not work and still left a sticky mess that we had to go back and use the rubbing alcohol and putty knife to get off. Sorry for the super long comment but after going through this I really wanted to let anyone looking for this info know cause it really was a GAME CHANGER for us and kept my security deposit intact!! May God bless every single person that reads this! Accept Jesus today if you haven't already, He loves you no matter what, seriously!!!

Thanks for this post. Helped so much. I'd add to use 91% alcohol and a tile/glass scraper. My husband tried different plastic scrapers, razors, and knives. But the game changer was switching to the tile and glass scraper! And applying the alcohol then scrape technique, small sections at a time.

I just finished this process and my fingers are done. There was blood from one nail and skin bunching on the same finger. They will be returned. The first set I had came off much easier. Most of the sticky stuff was still on the back of the plastic but this 2nd set, which was cheaper, most of the sticky was left on the tile. The sad part is there is one more I’ll have to remove before I move but good thing that’s no time soon. 😬 And this new corner set will probably get returned. Whew!! Way too much work to remove.

I have one more proposition for you.... I don't know if this will work but what if you used parchment paper and an iron over it to really heat it up? I used this technique to remove my vinyl tile that wouldn't budge. Please be careful...

at some point I decided that the "200"( each apartment is different) dollar fix wasn't enough for me to sit and worry about trying to get it up since when they refinished the bathroom they did a bad job. so I Was still careful but not as careful before because no mater how hard I tried to take it inch by inch it still ripped the glaze off the wall.

I'm sorry that you have to deal with taking them up, it's a very sticky process but not impossible. Just be careful, in the mist of taking them up, I burned myself by accident with the iron 😭

See? I KNEW this would happen. Everyone goes crazy online for these peel and stick shelves, but I never see anyone tries to remove them until now. Everyone swears that these shelves are "renter-friendly", but from what I see you had to do, I would argue that it is not. I would never have your patience. I'll stick with the suction cup shelves.

I agree, I'll be making a video about all of the things that renters need to avoid. Some of them are just not worth it!!!!!

It didn't cross my mind until later. Unfortunately this bathroom is a bit below standard but next time I see something that might appear to be mold, I'll take another route. Thanks for your concern and feedback 🤠
